July 2011: More than 13 million people were affected by a devastating drought in East Africa.

Thanks to your support, we’ve reached more than 250,000 people with food, water or long-term support.

October 2011: we responded to serious flooding in El Salvador.

December 2011: Typhoon Washi in the Philippines destroyed 20,000 homes. We made sure families had food, clothes, water and the chance to rebuild their lives.

March 2012: 18 million people in West Africa faced serious food shortages. We responded before the crisis hit the headlines.

Today we’re providing food and seeds and running cash-for-work schemes in Niger, Chad and Mauritania. We’re also helping villages find long-term solutions to food shortages.

July 2012: In the year since South Sudan became independent, hundreds of thousands of people returned to the country. Many are living in crowded camps, with few possessions.

We are working with the Church in South Sudan to provide food, shelter, safe water and better sanitation to prevent the spread of disease.

We continue to work in Pakistan, helping families who lost everything in the 2010 and 2011 floods to become self-reliant again.

Two and half years since Haiti was devastated by an earthquake, we are ensuring people are prepared for future disasters, for example by helping farmers use techniques that reduce the risks from landslides.
