About The cathedral Notre Dame de Paris
Notre Dame de Paris, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, is the most visited monument of France.Located in the historic center of paris, at the top of the Ile de la Cité, its construction began in the Middle Ages in the thirteenth century and was completed in the fifteenth century.Badly damaged during the French revolution, the cathedral was the subject of a restoration in the nineteenth century led by the architect Viollet-le-Duc.The many visitors admire the stained glass and rose windows, towers, arrow and gargoyles.
The three rosaces are one of Notre Dame’s treasure. Built during the XIII century, they are an artistic as well as a technical achievement. The largest are 13 meters wide. All around are flowers, roses with multicolored petals, all the same beautiful with a spiritual meaning : each one is inique but even more beautiful together like God’s children.
