EMAC so far … 1/2

• 2003 EMAC Protocol for ATM Co-ordination signedCyprus – Egypt – Jordan - Lebanon - Syria

• EMAC Steering Committee (SC) - 5 Civil Aviation Director Generals, ICAO & EUROCONTROL observers.

• Currently chairmanship by Cyprus.

• 2003 – 2007 … SC meetings SC#1 up to SC#6, dealt with working arrangements, scope of work and funding.

• Jan 2008 … Last steering meeting (SC#7) decided on a number of implementation projects and requested EUROCONTROL for technical support with funding assistance by EC via the EUROMED Aviation Project.

• Organisation of a “SAFETY & QUALITY workshop” as a basis for implementing :

- “SAFETY Management System”,- “SAFETY Regulation”,- “QUALITY Management System”,

• A number of SAFETY related tools : TOKAI, ELPAC,

• An “Airspace Improvement Study”, and

• Implementation of “Flight Management Positions”.

Workshop Objectives

• Introduce the ICAO and SES requirements related to :

- SAF Mgnt - SAF REGULATION- QUALITY Mgnt

• Provide opportunity for an open discussion on the SAF maturity situation in the EMAC Region.

• Share past experience and propose practical way forward (implementation).
