The development of European macro regions is well underway. The thematic priorities for the individual macro region have to be related to the respective territorial specificity and diversity and related policies. The use of evidence is important for macro regions to benchmark and capture the European context in their strategies and programmes.

This workshop will address evidence for territorial cooperation areas such as European macro regions. An important focus in the workshop discussions will be on key messages useful for policy makers in the context of Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 and in policy development promoting policy orientations of the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Territorial Agenda 2020.

Questions the presenters should seek to address

1. Are there certain standards that can be found in all macro regions? What are unique conditions for the European macro-regions?

2. How do macro-regions take on-board European and global development dynamics?

3. How could continuous territorial evidence and tailor-made benchmarking support efficient implementation and investments?
