National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions (NP YAT)

• NP YAT- agreement between Australian and State and Territory Governments

• Aim to increase participation of young people in education & training, increase attainment levels and improve transitions

• Workplace learning coordinators

– one of the key programs to help us meet the objectives of the National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions

VETiS Enrolments

• Student participation increased by 16% from 2006 to 2009

• Certificate enrolments have increased by over 17% from 2006 to 2009

• More students are choosing to participate in more than one VET certificate

• Students may require more than one structured workplace learning placement

VCAL Enrolments

• VCAL enrolments have risen 44% from 2006 to 2009

• 81% of this growth is accounted for by increased enrolments in Intermediate and Senior VCAL certificates

Program Objectives

WLCs are the interface between industry and employers and education and training providers:

• Increase the number of young people undertaking workplace learning placements in places of employment, especially within those industries that provide strong vocational outcomes for young people

• Increase the alignment between VCAL and VET provision and local industry needs

• Increase the number of Koorie young people undertaking workplace learning placements

• Generate and identify new workplace learning placement opportunities

Supports and networks• WLCs are expected to work with existing

infrastructure and with each other

• Key supports include LLENs and Regions
