on June 30th, President Obama and Secretary of Labor Perez released a 295-page Noce of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), seeking public comments on proposed changes to the “white collar” overme exempon regulaons. With these rules triggering some of the most significant changes to the workforce in nearly 50 years, CHA, in collaboraon with the Nebraska Hospital Associaon, will be providing this educaonal webinar to its member hospitals regarding how this may affect their operaons. Analysts ancipate that nearly every employer in the naon—including many hospitals— will be affected by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) proposed revisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overme exempons. These new rules will impact not only how employers classify their exempt and non-exempt employees, but also boom line profits for an organizaon. Employee claims for unpaid overme connue to be the most significant employment liability risk for employers. The revised overme regulaons coming out of Washington could trigger more liability and confusion for employers across the country.
