AWS WELDINGCERTIFICATION PROGRAMS

Eastern Gateway’s welding programs are designed to prepare students for jobs in the field of welding. The demand for welders is increasing in numerous industries, including construction, manufacturing, natural gas, power generation, and utilities. Workers who possess basic skills for welding can easily shift from one industry to another depending on where they are needed most. All welding programs at Eastern Gateway provide the skill preparation required for AWS and other industry certifications.

PRECISION MACHININGMANUAL & CNC CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS

Located in Choffin Career & Tech Center, Youngstown, OH Coming Soon to Steubenville Campus.

Manual & CNC operators are entry-level jobs for people who interact with computer-numerical-controlled (CNC) machines, as well as manual, that are used in the manufacturing world. This equipment is used to form, shape, and cut materials such as steel, aluminum, and plastics into precision parts used in almost every product. CNC operators are responsible for loading and unloading work pieces, downloading and editing programs, and measuring the quality of the work pieces they produce.

INTRO TO MANUAL MACHINING CEW600-20 | 16 Weeks | $3,500This course provides an exploration of the basics in machine tool operation. Topics include safety, blueprint reading, raw material, and tooling. The program, will prepare students to receive an industry-recognized credential and provides students with skills identified as priority skills by local employers. [2 NIMS Level 1 Certifications]

INTRO TO CNC MILL OPERATOR CEW601-20 | 7 Weeks | $1,625This course provides students experience in the operation and simple programming of a CNC milling machine. Students learn about CNC programs for three - axis milling machines, including spindle controls, tool changes, linear and circular interpolation, drilling and tapping, subroutines, and G&M codes. INTRO TO CNC LATHE OPERATOR CEW602-20 | 7 Weeks | $1,625This course provides students experience in the operation and simple programming of CNC turning centers. Topics include programming formats, control functions, program editing, part production, and inspection. Students learn to manufacture simple parts on a CNC turning center. REAL ESTATE PRINCIPLES & PRACTICESAn introductory course that is taught in accordance with guidelines set by the National and Ohio Association of Realtors. Designed for professional real estate people, as well as the general public, the course covers elementary characteristics of real estate and carious influences on real estate values. It is also a foundation for further study and preparation for securing a license.

REAL ESTATE LAWAll the areas of law dealing with real estate are studies. Emphasis is on the law of agency as applied to real estate brokers and salesmen. PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN The Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) is a person trained to obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques. Phlebotomy involves the correct identification of the patient prior to sample collection and proper labeling of the specimen after collection. The phlebotomist must select the appropriate

specimen container(s) for the specified test(s) and collect the appropriate amount of blood by venipuncture (vacuum tube, needle and syringe or butterfly) or dermal puncture for each test.Receipt, transportation, processing and handling of specimens other than blood (urine, throat cultures, etc.) may be the phlebotomist’s responsibility since they serve as an extension of the clinical laboratory.In addition to technical, clerical and interpersonal skills, the phlebotomist must develop strong organizational skills to efficiently handle a heavy workload and maintain accuracy, often under stressful conditions. Performance of computer operations and record keeping are also required.This course contains 12 weeks of lecture, discussion, and practical instruction in the lab, followed by a 100-hour clinical externship at a hospital, clinic or local patient service center. HEALTH CARE CAREERSPHARMACY TECHNICIAN All practicing pharmacy technicians in Ohio are now required to pass a State approved competency exam. This 50-hour course will prepare students to take such an exam, including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.This comprehensive 50-hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. ACT® TEST PREP WORKSHOPAre you ready to take the ACT®? Gain confidence in all four components of the test by taking this course designed to review your skills. The workshop consists of six two-hour sessions which include discussions of test taking strategies and reviews of English, writing, math, reading and science reasoning skills. CONTINUING EDUCATION (6 Hours)THE ANATOMY OF PREJUDICEThis workshop will focus on the work that began over 40 years ago in a 3rd grade classroom in Riceville, Iowa. The Peabody Award-winning film, “The Eye of the Storm,” introduces and discusses that groundbreaking exercise. Participants will explore the problems of racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, and ethnocentrism—and the responsibility shared by all of us for illuminating them in and eliminating them from ourselves and our environment. Discussion and activities will provide insight to the problems of –isms with which we are all confronted.
