This weekWe don’t have much room left on the page so here’s a quick word scramble. Parents and teachers may recognise it as a conundrum, made famous by Channel 4’s Countdown. Can you rearrange the letters to make a nine letter word?

What a novel idea!We have yet more new arrivals in the LRC this week. It’s great to see so many books available to read. Don’t forget, Ms. Gill and Ms. Goodhand are running lunch clubs in the LRC for all Year 7 students, including reading, writing and storytelling.

Look out for the display shelf of new books which, this week includes Pumpkin Grumpkin, a collective of silly poems from around the world.

New books in the LRC this week

Extra, extra.Don’t forget we still have a huge range of extra-curricular clubs and sports running at lunch and after school every day of the week.

For a complete schedule, check the Extra calendar on the Students page of our website.

We have more clubs starting after half too including your chance to design and make your own smart phone Apps!

Clubs & sports galore.

Every Day Counts.This week’s winners are 9C.

After half term we will be opening the competition to all year groups and you will be able to follow your tutor groups progress online too. Keep an eye on the screens and look out for a link on the website soon. Remember, you have to be in to win. The tutor groups with the best attendance and punctuality will win the races and the prizes too!

Attendance Olympics: Week 3

Mr. HappyNo, not the children’s book character but French Buddhist monk, Matthieu Ricard. Having been dubbed ‘the happiest person in the world’ following his “off the scale” results in a scientific, university study of happiness, a team of Year 11 students went in search of the secret to happiness.

Ansa, Kaya and Marjana met with Ricard to learn more about the study he took part in and discuss how he achieved this apparent happiness.

Ricard attributes his well-being and believes we could create a truly satisfied nation through altruism, helping others. He doesn’t believe in telling himself he’s happy, instead he thinks the secret is to control your feelings and make the most of every situation.

We meet “the World’s happiest man.”
