QUALITY

We have developed our production methods from over

30 years working on building projects throughout the world.

The use of CAD software and hi-tech equipment has been key

to the development and understanding of the architectural

and aesthetic concept associated with each project.Woodfit

Acoustics dedication is to continuously improve our

products, engineering and manufacturing processes, this

includes everything from procuring raw materials, CAD

drawings, acoustic assessments and estimating. Each

employee is responsible to ensure that all work done

meets the highest of standards. Our commitment to

quality insures successful business in customer service.

FLAT PANELLING

Woodfit Acoustics manufacturers high quality

architectural wood veneered panels. We use a wide

range of quality veneers from around the world.

Because each veneer is unique to a particular tree,

grain and colours will vary. Some of the veneers that

we use are shown in the veneer section. We apply

wood veneers onto a range of materials including

plywood, MDF and solid.

All veneers are selected and matched to suit your

requirement. When preparing the veneers we normally

book-match but we can drag, mismatch, quarter-up,

segment or discuss any design that you are looking

for.We can lip panels in solid matching timbers.

Thickness can range from 1mm to 20mm.We can

produce veneered panels with inlays, banding's and

marquetry designs.

Burls are available on request.

LINEAR PANEL RANGE

The Linear panel range is constructed from 18mm thick

MDF substrate with a specified natural veneer face, with

3mm saw cuts in the face and perforations to the back.

The panels are manufactured with tongue and groove edge

jointing profiles which makes them easy to install.

SOLIDTIMBER RANGE

Solid timber can be manufactured in a wide combination

of profiles, species, colours and spacings to fit any design

needs. The vast array of design options and the easy

installation and removal make the solid panel system

a great choice for any ceiling or wall area.

Access above the solid ceiling panels is easily achievable

by removing individual sections. For standard removal

sections are fitted with Z clips.

These panels can have acoustic characteristics with

the addition of a fibreglass blanket above them.

Solid panels can also provide acoustic benefits when

fibreglass or other acoustic materials are installed behind

the panels.Wall mounted timber is often specified for

auditoriums, meeting rooms, and conference rooms.

The result includes controlled sound levels and a

pleasing appearance.

ROTARY CUTThe log is centered on a lathe and

turned against a broad cutting knife

set into the log at a slight angle

QUARTER SLICINGThe slicing is made perpendicular to

the annual growth rings of the tree.

This creates a straight grain

appearance

LENGTHWISE SLICINGThis is done from a board of flat

sawn lumber rather than from a log.

A variegated figure is created with

this slice

PLAIN SLICINGBy slicing parallel to the centre of

the log, a raised “cathedral effect”

is formed by the innermost

growth rings

HALF-ROUND SLICINGSliced on an arc parallel to the

centre of the log, this cut achieves a

flat-cut veneer appearance

RIFT CUTThis straight grain cut is derived by

slicing red and white oak at a slight

angle to minimise the irregularities

in the wood

SPECIAL ORDERS

Woodfit Acoustics can provide special bespoke panels that will allow the

incorporation of items such as lights and speakers. Blank, non perforated or

slotted areas can be left in panels.

For curved sections of walls or ceilings with large radii, the panels can be

fitted / assembled to a curved sub structure to form a facetted surface (A

surface made up of short straight sections that appears

to be curved)

Walls or ceilings with smaller radii can be achieved by cutting relief grooves

in the back of the panels in order to make them flexible.Alternatively

Woodfit Acoustics can form curved, blank (non perforated or slotted)

panels or the acoustic core range of panels to radii as small as 600mm in

our workshop to suit requirements on site prior to delivery.

.

This traditional cut creates a ‘cathedral’Flat Cut grain which is often compared to the look

of solid lumber

Pommele Resembles rain drops cascading down awindow; has a very eye catching effect

Mottled Angular rays of shimmer with sharp edges;highly iridescent, creates a bold statement

Birds Eye Dots of dense wood cells typically foundin maple but can occur in others

Spalted/ Dark lines often caused by fungus orAmbrosia insects; very rare in veneer form

FIRE CLASSIFICATION

Woodfit Acoustics offers a wide range of surface finishes and accessories for

walls and ceilings.A wall or ceiling in wood immediately provides a room with

aesthetic charm while offering fire protection combined with acoustic

properties.

We can provide a range of fire treatments for our ranges of panelling.

They can be provided in Class 1 which is European Class C and Class 0

which is European Class B. Panels which are perforated or slotted can be

complimented with mineral wool backing to eliminate the possibility of

ignition behind the panel. Panels can also be supplied non-fire rated if

required. Please contact us if you require further information.

In contrast to similar companies who offer a generic panelling,Woodfit

Acoustics has the ability to design, test and manufacture acoustic panels to

any architects or designers requirements.Acoustic panels can be flat, curved

slotted or perforated to achieve any design.

RANGE OF AVAILABLE FIRE CERTIFICATION

ENGINEEREDVENEERS

These products are engineered to precise design

specifications which are tested to meet national or

international standards. Engineered wood products may

be preferred over solid wood in some applications due

to certain comparative advantages: EngineeredVeneers

have a variety of strengths.

Man-made, it can be designed to meet applications

specific performance requirements.

Large panels of engineered wood may be manufactured

from fibres from small diameter trees.

Engineered wood products are often stronger and less

prone to humidity-induced warping than equivalent solid

woods, although most particle and fiber-based boards

readily soak up water unless treated with sealant or paint.

NATURALVENEERS

Every wood species has its own colour and grain. The skilful

use of the trees innate character creates veneers that are

entirely unique in structure and colour tone.

As wood matures, colour tones vary, as is the case with

veneers. Differences in colour and character are inherent to

wood´s attraction. However, certain interiors aspire to

create a stable and uniform impression which some natural

veneers cannot provide over wide areas most veneers can

be book matched.

Natural is our most popular wood veneer selection. These

veneers possess all the beauty and character nature

provides. The veneer’s colour tone matures with time and

thus no two veneers are exactly alike. Natural and unique.

SUSTAINABILITY

Woodfit Acoustics constantly

seeks ways to contribute to a

better environment.Woodfit

Acoustics is essentially a timber

based manufacturing company,

even where our products have

non-timber finishes such as

laminate, metal, paint, or fabric;

the substantial mass of our

constructions will comprise of

timber based products. As a result

we use CARB2 and FSC certified

companies where possible.

INSTALLATION

Installation of Woodfit Acoustics’ flat veneered panels varies

depending on project requirements.Accessible panels are

most commonly installed with Z-hangers, Z-clips or hinged.

Panels in areas where accessibility is not required can be

direct screwed toT-rail grid on the back of the panel.

For wall applications, Z-clips provide a secure

attachment to battens or a plywood wall.

For a more quality look we use a tongue and groove

system which is shown below.
