”First of all, I would like to let you know that I am deeply impressed with the work you have done– I think COWI and Ramboll should be scared to their bones when they get to know about your performance!”

”Benni and I wish to thank you for the great job you did at He Dreiht. We won the bid and would not have been able to do so without your help and expertise. It was a tough call for EnBW and I hope that this bold move without any subsidiaries (yes it really is 0€ per kWh) pays off. ”

Designing the best Offshore Wind Farm
• Huge number of inter-linked factors that go into designing an offshore wind farm
• Focus of this presentation is on optimisation of the wind-farm LAYOUT(Hint: It doesn’t all need to be in straight lines)

Designing the best Offshore Wind Farm
So what is it? What does it mean?
• Site optimisation is effectively a FEED study for the layout
• At the heart is a full-life cycle cost modelwhich can include:• Site bathymetry and geology,• different turbines,• array cable layouts and voltages, • and can be adjusted to minimise ground risks

Inter Array Cable (IAC) Architecture selected is “split-string”
Split-string for IAC architecture
IAC routed parallel to sand waves
A detailed study of site bathymetry and sediment transport was undertaken – a Geomorphology study. This informed the likely long-term change in ground levels
