Our Business

We are an international energy services company with around $7bn sales, employing about 43,000 people worldwide and operating in 50 countries. We have three businesses – Wood Group Engineering, Wood Group PSN and Wood Group GTS – providing a range of engineering, production support, maintenance management and industrial gas turbine overhaul and repair services to the oil & gas, and power generation industries worldwide.

Wood Group Engineering

Through Wood Group Mustang and Wood Group Kenny, we provide a wide range of engineering services to the upstream, subsea & pipelines, downstream & industrial and clean energy sectors. These include conceptual studies, engineering, project & construction management (EPCM) and control system upgrades.

Wood Group PSN

We are a global provider of pre-operations, hook up & commissioning, operations & maintenance, engineering, construction, project management, training and decommissioning services to the energy industry.

Wood Group GTS

We are a leading independent provider of rotating equipment services and solutions for clients in the power and oil & gas markets. Worldwide, these services include: power plant engineering, procurement and construction; facility operations & maintenance; and repair, overhaul, optimisation and upgrades of gas and steam turbines, pumps, compressors and other high-speed rotating equipment.

Our Heritage

1960Wood family ship repair business employed 50 people with revenues of $100,000.

1970sNorth Sea oil activity began and we received our first major engineering support contract with Shell.

1980sWe used our North Sea knowledge to help us grow internationally, and established our US operations. We employed 2,500 people with revenues of $150million.

1990sWe began to build our well support business, and formed joint ventures with major gas turbine OEMs.

2000We acquired Mustang and Alliance to provide market leading engineering services for deepwater facilities. We established our power plant operations & maintenance business. Revenues exceeded $1billion for the first time.

Our Worldwide Markets

North America

We are active across North America and in the Gulf of Mexico on a range of projects and support growing demand in the shale regions. We deliver long term power plant operations & maintenance support to operators.

Europe

We are active in the North Sea and across Europe, supporting projects in Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan, and delivering subsea engineering design and onshore and offshore operations & maintenance solutions to the oil & gas and power markets.

Asia Pacific and Australia

We serve a wide range of customers across Asia Pacific and Australia. We are a market leader in Australia supporting long-term subsea and pipeline projects. We have operations & maintenance contracts in Indonesia and Malaysia and a gas turbine service facility in Thailand.

Central and South America

We bring a wealth of experience to Central and South America, working with national and international oil companies in the region. We offer operations & maintenance, engineering and consulting services to operators and support the needs of local power companies.

Middle East and Africa

Our Middle East operations support local and international clients in the region. We enhance gas turbine operating efficiency and product capability for oil & gas clients. We are active in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Angola.

2002Successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange.

2006We were awarded our first duty holder contract in the North Sea. We employed 20,000 people with revenues of $3.5billion.

2011We acquired PSN to create Wood Group PSN, the leading global brownfield production services provider, and sold our Well Support division.

2012We are well positioned to continue adding value to our customers’ operations, with more than 42,000 employees in 50 countries and revenues of >$6billion.

Our Core Values

Our Hummingbird team in the North Sea won the Safety & Assurance ‘Living our Values’ Award for performing the annual major shutdown of Hummingbird earlier than scheduled and with very limited planning time available. The team delivered a safe and efficient project against tight timescales and in adverse weather conditions.

Daniel Jones, Mason Linden, Ciaran Trappe, Frederic Alardo and Doug Burbidge in Perth, Australia won the Innovation award for development of the innovative NEXUS IC software giving Wood Group a significant competitive advantage in the world of asset data and integrity management.

Kathryn Petrie won the People award for her leadership, motivation and encouragement of her colleagues in TeamWG who won the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon two years in a row.

Marcelle Yee Keow in the US manages all projects for a major client. She won the Relationships award for building and maintaining a strong relationship with the client while supporting them over a number of years.

Sharleen Taylor, Felicia Holder and Dalia Watson won the Social Responsibility award for promoting education, training and social development in the Mayaro-Guayaguayare community in Trinidad.

Relationships Our business depends on healthy relationships with customers, business partners, and suppliers. We build and nurture strong relationships that are mutually beneficial, making sure that we deeply understand the people we deal with, so that we can anticipate their needs and always aim to exceed their expectations. Everyone in our organisation contributes to the quality of the relationships we build and we actively seek feedback.

Social Responsibility Being socially responsible is integral to what we do. We aim to make a positive difference to the communities where we operate and seek ways to assist them. We prioritise the hiring and development of local people and work with local supply chains where we can. We are committed to minimising the impact of our activities on the environment by conserving resources, reducing waste and emissions, and preventing environmental pollution and we work with our customers to provide the best environmental solutions.

Colleen Simpson, John Neville, Rose Frew, Courtney Barbour, Grant Leckie and Leon Mallay, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada won the Financial Responsibility award for implementing a cost redution strategy which led to total savings of $3.8 million for a client.

Mark Breen won the Integrity award for stepping in to the Regional Manager’s role at a power plant in Texas, USA to address operational and cultural challenges, and for ensuring that we delivered integrity to the customer.

Financial Responsibility We expect to receive fair reward for our business performance. We are cost aware and carefully manage our own and our customers’ costs. We manage financial risk systematically and communicate our financial performance in a clear, concise manner.
