Congratulations to Paige Y, from the Wonthaggi Joey Mob, who has earned the Joey Scout Promise Challenge. Well done Paige! Our school has been abuzz this week with our Artist in Residence Program. There has been singing, musical performance and of course, lots of bush dancing. We are all looking forward to Friday evening, with our Family Picnic and the much anticipated performance. If you have any questions about your child’s performance, please catch up with their classroom teacher. Tuesday 11 th December is State Wide Transition Day. Our Gr 6 students will be heading to their various Secondary Schools and our 2019 Prep students will be ‘at school’. During the morning all students in the school will be working in their 2019 ‘tentative’ grades. Our new staff will be joining us on that day, so please join us in making them feel welcome. Thank you to those students who are working so hard to keep our yard tidy and litter free. Great job to Luci S, Dia V, Tanna G and Sophie T. I don’t know about you, but I love surprises! Earlier this week I was presented with a jar from 1 /2 B. When I opened the jar, I found it was full of thank you notes. These notes have certainly filled my bucket and they also made me reflect on some of the things that I am grateful for. I also thought about the mad Christmas rush and the need to buy the perfect gift. Sometimes the most special gifts can be those that are heartfelt and gracious. So, if you’re stuck on gift ideas, especially those tricky Grandparents, maybe create a Thank-you Jar for them. I’d like to introduce Chelsea. She is currently in year 4 and is an avid supporter of The Royal Children’s Hospitals, Good Friday Appeal. Chelsea approached me sometime ago and asked if she could hold a public fundraising event at school. To my complete surprise she wanted to shave her head! After meeting with Chelsea’s mum, we have agreed to hold a special student gathering on Monday 17th December where the clippers will come out. There will be more details and information on how you can donate to Chelsea’s fundraising efforts and ways that students can support Chelsea (who is much braver than me). Warm regards, jxÇwç UÜtwÄxç Principal
