 Register for Summer Camp!  We have many NEW choices for camp offerings this year.  LSA Summer Camps are open to anyone. The camps are not limited to LSA students.   Spread the word, share on Facebook or other social media.  We have everything from hiking to crafts to academics. Want your student to be successful in high school? We have a camp for that. Does your student want to hone their vocal musical skills or comic book skills ­ we have a camp for those. Don’t want your teen to sit around this Summer? We have a camp for that ­ hiking! Join in on the fun. Each student will receive a t­shirt and lunch is provided for full day camps.  

  PARENT VOLUNTEERS ­ here is your time to shine.  Looking for members for our Lunch Break Club. Fourth quarter is in full swing and we’d love to have you give a little break to our teachers. A  SignUpGenius  has been created for you to offer a teacher a break. 

  It’s time to DANCE! April 23 from 7:00­11:00 pm at ArtSpace. Tickets will not be sold at the door.  ID and TICKET are REQUIRED for entrance!!!!

TRANSCRIPTS We are entering a season that may result in questions about, or requests for Student Transcripts. Please our Transcript page  for everything you ever wanted to know about transcripts and how to request them. Please be advised, requests are processed weekly ­ be kind to the folks behind the scenes and give them ample notice when requesting.  

  SUMMER COMMUNITY SERVICE ­ in an effort to be compliant to the requirements of community service hours, students are asked to have SUMMER service projects pre­approved by Ms. Doyle.  REMINDER: ALL community service forms documenting service hours are to be turned into the main office within 3 months of that service. This requirement was updated this school year, and we want to make sure all students are compliant so they don’t miss out on getting their hours approved. 

● Ms. Doyle would like to give a special shout out to  Maytal Agasi, Sarah Stewart, Olivia Bouzigard, Olivia Haley, and Maggie Hemedinger  for working the New Student Info Night on Tuesday and for making all of our new students feel welcome! 

● Ms. Doyle would also like to thank Mrs. Brown and Frau Davis  for preparing all of the food this week for Saturday’s Spring Formal! 

● Mrs. Davis recognizes all of the excellent  performers and students  who have helped with these productions (artists, tech, choreography, accompanists) we’ve had these last couple of weeks! We are very proud of all the great work being done at LSA! 

● Mr. and Mrs. Noble  for being our movers and doers! 

● Mrs. Cowper  for taking lead on all the treats and wonderful things for the staff! We are very appreciative for what you and our PTSO do!! 

● Mrs. Steele, Ms. Snee and all the parents  who have been giving teachers a break from lunch duty! That little bit goes a LONG way!! 

  SENIORS   ­ SAVE THE DATE  for your Senior Awards & Reception on Monday, May 16 at 6:00 pm at the Garner Performing Arts Center.  A dessert reception will follow the ceremony.  

 American Councils for International Education is looking for host families for the 2016­2017 academic year for incoming FLEX and YES students in the Wake County area.   These elite high school students are recipients of extremely competitive scholarships from the U.S. Department of State and come from a diverse array of countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.  As participants of the FLEX and YES programs, incoming students will come with: ● Personal monthly stipend ● Health insurance ● Support from an American Councils Local Coordinator 

●  A requirement to participate in community service and activities that teach civic responsibility 

 Host families are asked to provide: ● A bed (although the student may share a room with a host sibling of the same sex) 

● 3 meals per day (may include lunch money or provisions to pack a lunch) 

● Transportation to and from after­school activities

 It’s that time of year when many parents are looking to sign up their child for a driver’s ed course. This can be a bit confusing. We hope to help make this easy for you. Best thing to start is to refer to the  Driver's Education  page on our website.  Longleaf School of the Arts will NOT be hosting a class this Summer. Longleaf is communicating with JDS for future course possibilities. All students who either live or attend school in Wake County may take driver’s ed through JDS’s program.  

Then visit the  Jordan Driving School  website to pursue registering your child for a course. This link will take you to the JDS Fee & Class Schedule page. From there click on the Summer Classes link. All registration and payments for courses will be handled through Jordan Driving School.  JDS has priority registration going on now through April 24 . This means if you register by April 24 you will most likely get into one of your first choices of class, and students are assigned to class based on age. After April 24, students may continue to register and will be assigned to class on a first come, first served basis.  

 Congratulations!  We are so proud of our students. The PTSO rewarded our students with 

ice cream and a certificate on April 21.
