ec in the ncaa’sThis year’s appearance in the NCAA Tournament is Elmira’s 10th in program history. The Purple and Gold have played in a total of 20 NCAA Tournament games, going 14-6 in those contests.
rOunD threeFor the third time this season, the Elmira women will take on Nor-wich University. The two teams split meetings earlier this season, each winning on their home ice. Norwich won the first of two meetings 3-2 at the East-West Classic prior to Elmira’s 3-1 win at the Murray Athletic Center on January 10th.
nOvember 3rD vs. nOrWichAshton Hogan ’15 scored the game’s opening goal just 33 seconds into the first period to give Elmira an early 1-0 advantage. However, Norwich would score three unanswered goals to close out the first period, taking a commanding 3-1 lead. EC’s Tanis Lamoureux ’14 scored with about four minutes to play in the second period to cut Norwich’s lead to one, but that would be as close as Elmira would get as the Cadets skated away with a 3-2 win.
JanuarY 10th vs. nOrWichAfter a scoreless first period, Elmira scored two second period goals, including a power play score, to take control of the game. Norwich trimmed the lead to one early in the third but a goal by rookie Sydney Fischer ’17 put the game out of reach as Elmira took it, 3-1. Fellow rookie Johanna Eidensten ’17 scored the game-winner with 0.7 seconds left in the second period while Tanis Lamoureux ’14 punched home the game’s opening goal. Elmira netminder Lisa Marshall ’14 made 33 saves in the win, a career-high at the time.
elmira’s backstOpWithout a doubt, Elmira netminder Lisa Marshall ’14 has been a key factor in EC’s success this season. She has set career highs in saves on multiple occasions this season and set the Elmira College record for single-game saves (56) against Plattsburgh State earlier this year. In total, she has stopped 513 shots for a .952 save percent-age which is the third best percentage in nation.
tOp 10 in pOintsAshley Ryan ’15 and Tanis Lamoureux ’14 have been consistent point producers for the EC women this year. Both players are ranked in the top 10 in the nation in points per game as Ryan is fourth with 1.59 and Lamoureux 10th with 1.37. Elmira is one of two teams in NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey to have two players inside the top 10, Potsdam State being the other.
alsO tOp 10 in assistsAshley Ryan ’15 and Tanis Lamoureux ’14 also rank inside the top 10 in assists per game. Ryan checks-in at second with 1.04 assists per game, just 0.01 shy of first place, while Lamoureux is sixth with 0.89 assists per game.
Just three aWaYAshley Ryan ’15 has totaled 97 points through her three years with Elmira College. She needs just three more points to become the ninth player in EC history to reach the 100-point plateau.

three With 30-plusElmira’s Ashley Ryan ’15, Tanis Lamoureux ’14, and Ashton Hogan ’15 all have 30-plus points on the season, marking the first time since the 2009-10 season Elmira has had three players reach the 30-point mark.
40-plus pOintsAshley Ryan ’15 has accumulated 43 points on 15 goals and 28 as-sists this season. She is the first EC player since Kayla Coady ’09 in the 2008-09 season to record at least 40 points in a season.
back-tO-back seasOnsAshley Ryan ’15 finished the regular season by leading the Soaring Eagles in points after also leading EC with 31 points in 2012-13. Ryan becomes the third player in Elmira history to lead the team in points in back-to-back seasons, joining former greats Laura Hurd ’05 and Kayla Coady ’09.
hOgan’s gOt YOur numberOpposing teams have seen the damage Ashton Hogan ’15 can do when Elmira is skating with an extra attacker. The junior has scored eight power play goals this season, tying her for fifth most in the country.
nO. 3 in Defensmen scOringElmira’s Brooke Wilgosh ’15 has continued to impress as the season progresses. She is fourth on this year’s team in points with 28, good enough to rank her third in the country in defensemen scoring as she averages 1.04 points per game.
rOaD testeDAt this point in the year, everyone has played a lot of games away from their home ice. However, Elmira has played the majority of their season on the road, including 15 true road games and 18 to-tal away from the Murray Athletic Center. EC is 11-4 in true road games and 13-4-1 in all games away from their home ice.
mOst in the cOuntrYElmira is one of four teams in the entire country to play 15 or more true road games. New England College and St. Scholastica have each played in 15 true road games while Wisconsin-Superior has played in 17. However, Elmira has played in the most games away from their home ice than any NCAA Division III women’s ice hock-ey program, the closest being Wisconsin-Superior who has played 17.
16 straight fOr nOrWichSince losing to Elmira on January 10th, the Cadets have not dropped a single contest, winning 16 consecutive games entering the NCAA Tournament. Of their 16 wins, only four have been one-goal games. Norwich’s 16 straight wins is tied for the longest active win-streak of any team, men or women, in the country and is the second longest unbeaten streak as well. Only the University of Minnesota women have a longer unbeaten streak, not having lost in their last 24 con-tests.
