Landlord guide Welcome to Rent with Confidence, a property and landlord accreditation scheme pioneered by the City of Wolverhampton Council.  Rent with Confidence will revolutionise how the private rented sector will operate; by supporting and incentivising good landlords and helping tenants to make the right choices RwC aims to steer tenants away from poor property conditions that may impact on their health and wellbeing. 

Landlords and their properties will be star rated.  Only landlords and properties achieving a 3 star or above rating will be able to advertise their property freely on the site and promote their rating.  There are other incentives available for 5 star landlords and lower starred landlords will be offered advice and support in order to improve their ratings.

2 star landlords and below will be listed but not otherwise shown on the site as a way of assisting prospective tenants to make informed choices on the where they should live, along with lists of prosecutions of rogue landlords and notices served; helping Wolverhampton’s residents to “Rent with Confidence!”

Go to www.rentwithconfidence.org.uk

Click on Agent/Landlord (as indicated with the red arrow)

Click on new landlords register here

To register click on the “Click Here” button

You are next asked to accept the site’s terms and conditions and then click submit

You are then taken through 4 tabs to register your information:

Once registered, you are now on your personal control site, with a unique landlord reference number, shown below with the red arrow.

Next you need to complete a landlord self assessment form as shown above with the Blue arrowThis screen will take you through your details and settings.

Here you can provide your company name and website details and upload your logo.

Now the self assessment part starts for the landlord:

If you choose that you have 6+ properties the following section will also appear:

Once these parts are filled out, the landlord assessment is complete and the star rating box will appear:

This is your landlord rating. This section only needs to be filled out once (and updated with any future changes). This section will not show a rating until you have uploaded at least one property.

Adding a New Property

Now you need to add a property. Either by clicking on ‘properties’ and then ‘add a new property’ or back to the control site and click on add a property as shown below:

You will see this screen; This is a 3 step process

The self assessment part will generate the star rating for the property:

There will be a series of questions like the ones shown above. Once these are all filled out, the system will automatically generate a star rating based on your answers.

Your property cannot be registered on the site without a star rating and further cannot be advertised without a star rating of 3* or more. At the moment all advertising is free and will remain so for 5* star landlords in the future.

3, To advertise the property you will need to click on the Advert tab as shown below and activate it:

Finally you will need to ensure that all your certification is uploaded and kept up to date in the documents section, for your convenience, we will accept a picture of your certificates, however please ensure that all parts are visible:

Once you have completed the above, your application will be sent to us for approval. We aim approve these or contact you (in the event of an issue within 48 working hours).

Once approved, your advert will look like this:

Once you have registered yourself on the site, you will have access to your own control site, where you can manage your properties. This should always be accessed by clicking on the agent/landlord tab and not on the login tab, as this is for your prospective tenants:
