If you have a child ready to commence school in 2013 please ring and make an appointment to see me with your child. Our appointments generally last 30-45 minutes, and are designed to mark the beginning of transition into our school. Important Term 4 Transition dates are: Kindergarten Orientation: Friday 2,9,16 and 23 November, 12.15pm Big Day at School: Friday 30 November Our School Development Day is on Monday 16 July. We will be working with the Literacy Consultant, Melissa Giddens, and staff from 4 other schools, exploring practical teaching strategies designed to improve student knowledge and skills in writing persuasive texts. Persuasive texts are read and written in most Key Learning Areas and include book reviews, letters, brochures, ads and essays. We will be exploring the grammatical components of persuasive writing and the techniques used by effective writers, and shown how to use these as a basis of effective teaching programs. Staffing changes for Semester 2: We welcome Mrs Karina Offley onto 1/2M for the rest of the year whilst Mrs McOmish is on maternity leave. Mrs Mary McKay is taking on the new role of Learning and Support Teacher (LAST), providing support programs for students through learning assistance, behaviour assistance, Norta Norta and Indigenous Education. Mrs Lesley Killingbeck will be our Librarian for Semester 2, once Mrs Debbie Imms returns from long service leave. Students return on Tuesday 17 July. We will attempt to have our Athletics Carnival on the first week back, Friday 20 July- cross your fingers for dry weather. Enjoy the holidays everyone- have a safe and healthy time.
