Wix Directions
I have created a Wix template for you already. To get access to the template, you must first create
your Wix account, then send me an email with the email address you used to create the account. I
will then transfer the site to you.
Moving Between Pages
Saving and Previewing Your Wix Site
To move between pages,
select “Pages Home” located
towards the top left of your
screen.
You can save your page or preview your page by
selecting those options located at the top right
of the page.
Editing Text
Click in box for “Your Name”
and “Welcome” to change the
text.
Replacing Pictures
The example below shows what will happen when you click
in the frame to change the text. If you select edit text, you
can change the size of the font, color, and style. The icon to
the right of “edit text” allows you to animate your text. One
word of caution—too much animation can be distracting.
This box is already animated—you can change it, but just
keep it simple!
Follow the same process to edit text throughout your Wix
pages.
You should replace the pictures on the page with pictures of
you. These should not be glamour shots! You can use a
picture that looks more professional. You can include other
pictures that represent who you are as well.
Follow the same process to add other pictures to your Wix
pages.
Click on the image—you will see the options to the right
show up. Click on “change image”.
A pop-up box will appear—you have options to select from All
Media, Site Media, etc. You should click on the box towards the
bottom right of the frame—choose image. You will then need to
go to where the image you wish to use can be found on your
computer. Once the image loads into this pop-up box, then you
click on the picture and select the orange button, upload image,
located at the top right of frame.
Updating the Contact Information
Changing the Background or Adding Elements
Changing the Background
This box is at the bottom of each page. You need to update each
part with your information. You only need to do this once! It
will automatically display on your other pages.
You should also see a tool bar located on the left side of your
page. The first icon allows you to change your background, and
the second icon is where you can add text, images, gallery,
slideshow, video, music, and other options.
Icon One—Square: When you click on the first icon, the square
shape, then these options will display. When you click on a
background option, it will automatically display so you can see
what it will look like. If you are happy with the background, then
you should select “apply to other pages”. Feel free to use
another background! Just be sure it is clean and professional
looking.
Adding a Slideshow or Photo Gallery
Icon Two—Plus Sign: The second icon, the plus sign, provides
you with an array of options—text, images, gallery, etc.
You will need to add a slideshow to your “General Information”
page then a photo gallery with 6 pictures to your “Professional
Information” page. You will use this toolbar to complete both of
these tasks. Select “Slideshow” or “Gallery” to see your choices.
When browsing the gallery, you can select an option that has
more than 6 pictures. You can just delete the frames you do not
wish to use.
Click on the slideshow option, then select the style you want to
use. The one to the left is a “box slideshow”. Click on the one
you want and it will display on the page. When you first add the
slideshow, then it will probably be on top of the information box
(see example to your bottom left). You can click on the
slideshow and move slowly down until it is below the text box
(see bottom right).
Steps for replacing the slides:
1. Double click on the slide that is in the frame then delete that
picture.
2. Select the + sign again, then select “my image uploads”.
3. Select “upload images” located in top right corner of screen
(orange button). Upload the jpgs you created for your
PowerPoint—slide #1, #2, #4, and #5 (not #3).
4. Once the files have uploaded, then they will be displayed in
your images.
5. Select slide #1 to upload.
6. The slide will display on your page—most likely larger than
the frame for your slide. Decrease the size of the image until
it is slightly smaller than the frame.
7. Click and drag your image into the frame for the slide. You
will see a message “attach to slide”.
8. Repeat process for other slides.
Adding a Photo Gallery
When you first add the gallery, then it will probably be on top of
the information box (see example to your left). You can click on
the gallery then move it slowly down beneath that box. As you
move the gallery down, the box will widen to accommodate
both information and gallery (see below).
You will probably need to add a slide. Directions:
1. Click on the outside frame of the slideshow box.
2. You should see “Manage Slides” appear above the slideshow
box. Select this option.
3. A pop-up window will appear—select “Add New Slide”
located towards the bottom of the box.
Adding Annotations to Pictures in the Photo Gallery
You need to add annotations to each picture in your gallery.
Double click on a picture to display needed options.
All of the pictures currently in the gallery will be displayed. You
can delete pictures you do not want to keep by hovering over
the picture-a trash can will appear, click on trash can to delete
picture.
You are to add annotations to go along with your picture. Click
on “Description” to add this information.
Adding a New Page
There is one more page that will need to be added by you. Select
“Pages Home” in the top left corner next to WIX.
Select “Add Page” located towards the bottom of the box.
Click in the box to rename the page as “Contact Information”. If
you accidentally click outside of the box, then just double click
again on the title of the page. You will then be able to rename
the page.
Once the page is renamed, then click and drag to locate the page
underneath “Career Goals”.
Adding Contact Information
To add “Contact Information” to
your “Contact Information”
page…select the plus sign (+),
then click on the “Contact”
option. Scroll through to pick
your preferred layout. The
contact information will be
displayed on the page.
Select “Set Email” then input
your information as requested.
