ELECTRICITY WITHOUT WIRES IS CALLED

AS WITRICITY.

WHAT IS WITRICITY ?

Page 3: Witricity

HISTORY OF WITRICITY

In 1899, Sir Nikola Tesla proposed a method

of wireless power transmission .

As it is in Radiative Mode, most of the

power was wasted and has less efficiency.

So he proposed wireless power transmission.

FORGOTTEN INVENTION WAS

REBORN IN 2007

A Group of MIT scientists came up with

the idea of wireless transmission and the

group was led by Marin Soljacic and they

named it as “WITRICITY”.

HOW WIRELESS POWER WORKS ?

Magnetic coil (Antenna A) is housed in a box and can be

set in the wall or in the ceiling .

Antenna A powered by mains, resonates at a specific

frequency.

Electromagnetic waves transmitted through air.

Second Magnetic Coil (Antenna B) fitted in laptop or

T.V. or other devices at same frequency as 1st and absorbs

energy.

Energy charges the device.

WHY WE NEED ?

WE HUMANS LOVE ELECTRICITY !!!!!!!

AND TO POWER OUR DEVICES WE USE THEM.

PER YEAR THERE ARE 40MILLION DISPOSAL BATTERRIES!!

Page 12: Witricity

WHICH ENDS AS

Page 13: Witricity

WIRES ARE BURDEN FOR US…..

Page 14: Witricity

WE HUMANS LOVE WIRES!!!

Page 15: Witricity

BUT IT MAY END US SOMETIMES!!!!!!

ADVANTAGES OF WITRICITY

Safe, fairly efficient, good range.

Getting rid of great deal cables.

More secure, No risk of getting shock.

No usage of wires.

Range can be increased.

Need for batteries are eliminated.

Maintenance cost will be saved.

Page 17: Witricity

DISADVANTAGES

Wireless Power Transmission is only possible for few

meters.

Little over heating occurs because of different voltages.

Efficiency is only about 40%.

Possibility of “Energy Theft”.

Refitting old equipment or purchasing new equipment

could become very expensive .

Page 18: Witricity

RANGE OF WITRICITY

Witricity can perform electric transmission 2cm to 3-4

meters.

Scientists are working to extend the range of electric

transmission.

Page 22: Witricity

WITRICITY MAKES PRODUCTS

More Convenient :

No manual changing or recharging batteries

Eliminate unsightly, unwieldy, costly power cords.

More reliable :

Never run out of battery power.

Reduce product failure rates by fixing the “ Weakest

Link”.

Page 23: Witricity

More Environmentally Friendly :

Reduce use of lots and loops of wires.

Reduce E-waste.

Page 24: Witricity

HOW SAFE IS WITRICITY

Human Beings or other objects placed between the

transmitter and receiver do not hinder the transmission

of power.

Magnetic fields tend to interact very weakly with the

biological tissues of the body and so are not prone to

cause any damage to any living being.

Page 25: Witricity

CONCLUSION

Think that the city will be covered with

Wireless Power Transmission Hotspots,

just like wireless internet, there will be

no need of charging batteries, or carrying

adapters all around.

Page 26: Witricity

Imagine your cell phones, laptops, tablets, I-pods

and other power hungry devices getting charged

on their own, eliminating the need of plugging.

AND THIS POSSIBLE DUE TO

WIRELESS ELECTRICITY

OR “WITRICITY”.....!!!!!
