BADGERS FALL TO 0 3 IN BIG TEN Despite an improved offensive perfor-mance, Wisconsin fell to No. 22 Michigan, 80-57, on Thursday in the Kohl Center, dropping to 0-3 in the Big Ten.
The Badgers cut the lead to three (37-34) with 6:23 to play in the third quarter behind back-to-back 3 pointers from Kendra Van Leeuwen and Suzanne Gilreath. The Wolverines outscored the Badgers 9-3 over the last three minutes of the period to lead 54-42 heading into the final period. UW would get no closer as Michigan outscored the Badgers 26-15 in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Courtney Fredrickson led the Badgers with 16 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Kendra Van Leeuwen added 11 points and four rebounds.
The Badgers hit 40.8 percent (20-49) from the field, its best shooting performance in three games. UW was outrebounded 35-27 and turned the ball over 22 times as the Wolverines scored 20 points off UW giveaways.

BEVERLEY AT THE LINE After struggling with her free-throw shoot-ing in the first three games of the season, freshman Niya Beverley is shooting better than 70 percent over the last 12 contests.
The 5-7 point guard shot just 10 percent (1-10) from the line in the first four games. In the last 12 games, Beverley is shooting 70.6 percent (12-17), including 5-6 over the last four contests.
WE’LL TAKE MCBUCKETS FOR 100, ALEX Senior Cayla McMorris played in her 100th career game vs. Savannah State on Dec. 10. The 6-0 guard had 11 points and six rebounds in the contest.

KEEP AN EYE ON MCBUCKETS Senior Cayla McMorris was named to the inaugural Cheryl Miller Award watch list.
She is one of 20 players named to the 2017-18 preseason watch list by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
McMorris was also named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team after averaging 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game over three games. The 6-0 guard led the Badgers with 21 points vs. Syracuse, and 14 points vs. George Washington.
BADGERS SIGN FIVE FOR 2018 19 The Badgers signed three top-100 players for the 2018-19 season. Wisconsin signed Carmen Backes, a 6-1 wing from Lindstrom, Minnesota; Jasmine Hale, a 5-9 wing from Cincinnati, Ohio; Diamond Bragg, a 5-9 guard from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; Imani Lewis, a 6-1 forward from Willingboro, New Jersey; and Maia Caito, a 6-4 post from Cranston, Rhode Island.
Backes plays for Chisago Lakes High School, averaging 27.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game as a junior before missing the sec-ond half of the season with a torn ACL. A four-star recruit by Prospect Nation, Backes is ranked as the No. 87 signee. She is also ranked 69th by Blue Star Report. Backes also played for North Tartan AAU Club, earning three state championships and fin-ishing eighth at the 2016 Nike Nationals.
A three-time first-team all-conference and all-district honoree, Hale plays at West Clermont High School. She earned honor-able mention all-state honors as a junior and is ranked as the No. 28 guard by ESPN HoopGurlz. Hale is also ranked 128th by Blue Star Report. She played AAU ball with Cincinnati’s Finest, finishing third at the 2014-15 nationals.
Bragg averaged 21.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.6 blocks per game as junior at Camp Hill High School. She earned Class 2A first-team all-state honors and was a finalist for Miss Pennsylvania Basketball. Bragg earned two player of the year honors and was also named the PennLive.com Girls’ Athlete of the Year. Heading into her senior season, she is a Street & Smith Preseason honorable mention All-American. She is ranked 98th by Blue Star Report.
Ranked as the No. 41 player and No. 6 forward nationally by Prospect Nation, Lewis averaged 17.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks as a junior at Life Center Academy. She is also ranked 39th by Blue Star Report. Lewis earned MVP honors at the 2017 Mecca Showcase and She Got Game Classic. The forward also plays for Books and Basketball Academy AAU Club.
Caito is ranked as a three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz. As a junior, she averaged 16.2 points, 11 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game at Cranston East High School. Caito earned first-team all-class and all-division honors. Her team won the Division II South championship and advanced to the state final four.
