UW IN THE NCAA TOURNEYUW is making its 24th appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Badgers are 38-22 (.633) all- me in the Big Dance, advancing to 4 Final Fours and winning the 1941 NCAA tle.
Wisconsin is 1 of 5 schools to participate in 20 of last 21 NCAA tournaments, joining Kansas, Duke, Michigan State and Gonzaga.
NCAA Tournament Appearances(last 21 years, since 1999)
That stretch includes a run of 19 consecu ve NCAA tournament appearances, which is the 6th longest in NCAA history.
NCAA, All-Time Longest NCAA Tourn. Streaks # Seasons Team Years 30 Kansas 1990-present 27 North Carolina 1975-2001 24 Duke 1996-present 22 Michigan State 1998-present 21 Gonzaga 1999-present 19 Wisconsin 1999-2017
The Badgers have reached the Sweet 16 or bet-ter in 4 of the last 5 seasons, a feat matched by only Gonzaga and Kentucky. UW's string of 4 straight Sweet 16s also matched the Big Ten record for consecutive trips. The Badgers have also been to the Sweet 16 or better in 6 of the last 8 years. No team has gone more frequently in that span either.
Wisconsin has won 13 NCAA tournament games over the last 5 seasons, the most of any Big Ten team and 4th-highest total in the na on. Only Kentucky, UNC and Villanova have more (15).
UW has won 33 NCAA tourney games since 2000, the 2nd-highest total in Big Ten and 7th-highest mark in NCAA.
The Badgers earned a No. 5 seed in the South Region. UW has been seeded 5th or higher in 8 of its last 11 appearances.
Wisconsin is 2-3 all- me as a No. 5 seed. The Badgers advanced to the 2003 Sweet 16 as a 5 seed, defea ng No. 12 Weber State and No. 13 Tulsa before falling to No. 1 Kentucky. The Badgers were eliminated in the opening game as a 5 seed in 1999 and 2013.
Since 2002, the Badgers have gone 14-2 in opening round NCAA tournament games. UW's only 2 fi rst-round losses came as a No. 9 seed in 2006 and a No. 5 seed in 2013. UW is 2-0 in opening round games under head coach Greg Gard.
This marks the 2nd me UW has been in the South Region. The only other appear-ance came in 2011 when the No. 4 seed-ed Badgers advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Southeast Region in New Orleans.
GARD MAKES UW SWEET Greg Gard piloted the Badgers to the Sweet
16 in each of his first 2 years as a head coach (2016 and 2017). Over the last 20 years, Gonzaga's Mark Few is the only other coach to take his team to the NCAA tournament's sec-ond weekend in his first 2 seasons in charge.
Sweet 16s, First Two Seasons as a Head Coach Coach School Years Greg Gard Wisconsin 2016-17 Mark Few Gonzaga 2000-01
The Badgers are 4-2 in the NCAA tournament under Gard. In Gard's fi rst year, 7th-seeded UW defeated No. 10 Pi and No. 2 Xavier to advance to the Sweet 16. The Badgers eventu-ally fell to No. 6 Notre Dame. In his second season, No. 8 seed Wisconsin topped No. 9 Virginia Tech and No. 1 overall seed Villanova before falling to No. 4 Florida in the Sweet 16.
With Gard on staff at Wisconsin (as either assis-tant or head coach), the Badgers have appeared in 17 NCAA tournaments over 18 seasons, accumula ng a record of 29-16 (.644). During that span, UW has advanced to 9 Sweet 16s, 3 Elite Eights and the 2014 and 2015 Final Four.
Wisconsin’s 29 NCAA tourney wins since 2001-02 (Bo Ryan/Greg Gard era) rank 7th in the na on and 2nd among Big Ten teams (MSU, 32).
What Bo Ryan/Greg Gard have accomplished at Wisconsin is impressive for any school, but con-sidering UW’s NCAA tournament history prior to 2002, it is par cularly staggering.

Wisconsin Marching Band Director Mike Leckrone has never been more fitting.
Over the last 25 years (since the 1995-96 school year), UW has played in 22 bowl games and appeared in 21 NCAA men’s basketball tourna-ments. Those 43 combined appearances are the most in the country over that stretch.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT ETHAN HAPP“He's a first-team All-American. If he's not the player of the year right now, he's right up there.” — Indiana's Archie Miller (Feb. 25, 2019)
“Ethan Happ is not a preseason All-American, he's a postseason All-American. He's tremendous. He's just a difficult matchup.”
— Michigan head coach John Beilein (Jan. 19, 2019)
“I’ve never seen one player do more for one team. I’ve never seen it. When he’s in the game he just occupies so much. He’s about as unstoppable as it gets.” — Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino (Feb. 6, 2019)
“He is a phenomenal player and he impacts winning in so many ways. I've been a huge fan and watched him for these past 4-5 years. It's a nightmare playing against him but I love how he plays, he's just a winner.”
— Northwestern head coach Chris Collins (Jan. 26, 2019)
“You’re talking about arguably one of the top five players in college basketball and maybe one of the all-time greats to play at Wisconsin.”
— Illinois head coach Brad Underwood (Jan. 23, 2019)
“He is clever and he is so fast for a big guy – probably the fastest big we've played all year. He is so crafty with the ball and he is such a good passer. He's just a tough cover and I'm glad we don't have to play him again.”
— Purdue head coach Matt Painter (Jan. 11, 2019)
“Ethan Happ is one of the truly great players in college basketball. I hope fans of Wisconsin appreciate him because guys like that don’t come around often.” — Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski (Dec. 8, 2018)

HAPP HITS HISTORIC HEIGHTS Ethan Happ has put himself in the rarest of company, becoming
1 of just 6 players in NCAA history to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 400 assists.
He and IPFW's John Konchar are the first players to accomplish this milestone in nearly 30 years, joining Oscar Robertson (Cinc.),
Larry Bird (ISU), Danny Ferry (Duke) and Stacey Augmon (UNLV).
Of the 6 players in the 2000-1000-400 club, Happ and Augmon are the only players to also tally at least 100 blocks and 100 steals.

Ethan Happ and Murray State's Ja Morant are the nation's only players to record multiple triple-doubles this season. Happ posted 13p, 12r, 11a vs. Northwestern (1/29) and 10p, 11r, 12a vs. Coppin State (11/6).
Happ has now authored 2 of the 3 triple-doubles in Wisconsin history, joining Josh Gasser at Northwestern in 2011.
Since 1996-97, Happ is 1 of just 8 players to record a triple-double in a Big Ten conference game.
Happ is the first Big Ten player to tally multiple triple-doubles in a single season since Michigan State's Denzel Valentine had 2 in 2015-16. In fact, over the last 10 seasons, only 5 major conference players have tallied multiple triple-doubles: Season Player School No. 2018-19 Ethan Happ Wisconsin 2 2016-17 Dennis Smith, Jr. NC State 2 2015-16 Denzel Valen ne Michigan St 2 2010-11 Draymond Green Michigan St 2 2009-10 Evan Turner Ohio State 2

Wisconsin suffered its first double-digit loss of the season with a 67-55 setback in the semifi-nals of the Big Ten tournament last Saturday.
Despite out-scoring MSU 40-22 in the paint and turning the call over just 5 times, the Badgers couldn't overcome 2-for-19 shooting from outside the 3-point arc.
UW trailed by as many as 17 before trimming the deficit to 6 midway through the second half.
Senior Ethan Happ finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals.
Redshirt freshman Kobe King was the only Badger in double figures, scoring 13 points off the bench.

The Badgers claimed a 66-62 quarterfi-nal win over Nebraska last Friday.
UW trailed 46-45 with 10:00 remaining, but responded with a 7-0 run to seize control. The Badgers would never trail again, going 6-for-7 at the FT line in the final minute of the game.
The Badgers overcame 17 turnovers by going 11-for-12 at the free throw line and owning an advantage in FG shoot-ing (48.0% to 38.1%)

Sophomore G D'Mitrik Trice finished with 8 points and 4 assists. His 3-pointer gave UW a 5-point lead, 60-55, with 58 seconds left.
BIG TEN'S BEST Since 2002, UW has won 7 Big Ten champion-
ships (4 regular season and 3 tournament). Only Ohio State (10) and Michigan State (8) have won more tles during that era.
Since 2001-02, Wisconsin owns the best win percentage and most wins among Big Ten teams, pos ng a mark of 217-97 (.691).
UW clinched a top-4 fi nish in the Big Ten for the 17th me in the last 18 seasons. No other Big Ten team can make that claim.
WE MARCHOver the last 6 seasons, Wisconsin has been at its best late in the season. During the month of March, the Badgers are 30-10 (.750) since 2013-14, the best win percentage among Big Ten teams.
The Badgers' 30 wins in the month of March are 2nd to only Michigan (32) among Big Ten teams over the last 6 years.

D'MITRIK THRICEAfter missing the final 23 games of last season with a foot injury, sophomore D’Mitrik Trice responded to earn honorable mention All-Big Ten honors this season.
Trice is 2nd on the team averaging 11.7 ppg, up from last year's mark of 9.4 ppg.
Trice ranks 14th in the Big Ten shooting 40.0% from 3-point range, hitting 74-of-185. He is also 6th in the B1G averaging 2.2 triples per game. Trice has hit 4+ triples in a game 8 times this season. Trice went 5-5 from deep at Xavier (11/13), 7-8 vs. Oklahoma (11/22), 4-5 vs. NC State (11/27), 4-8 at Iowa, 4-7 vs. SSU (12/13), 4-7 vs. Purdue (1/11), 4-6 vs. Northwestern (1/26) and 4-9 at Northwestern (2/23).
Trice entered the season with a career high of 16 points, but has matched or topped that fig-ure 8 times this season, including a career-high 25 points vs. Oklahoma on Nov. 22.
For his career, Trice is a 39.2% shooter from outside the arc, going 124-316. His 124 triples currently ranks 17th on the school's all-time list. D'Mitrik's older brother, Travis Trice, was a career 39.5% 3-point shooter at Michigan State, hitting 202-of-512 from 2012-15.
Trice has also authored 85 assists with just 43 turnovers on the year, good for a 2.0 assist-to-TO ratio. That figure would rank 6th in the Big Ten, but he falls a few assists shy of qualifying.
HAPP'S CAREER IN RARE AIREthan Happ is putting together one of the greatest careers in NCAA history (more on page 10).

ALL TIME VS. OREGONFriday’s game will mark the 8th all-time meet-ing between Wisconsin and Oregon and the 3rd NCAA tournament meeting in the last 6 seasons.
The Badgers hold a 5-2 lead in the series, including a 2-0 edge in neutral site meetings.
Wisconsin topped Oregon in back-to-back NCAA tournaments en route to both 2014 and 2015 Final Four appearances.
In 2014, Wisconsin pulled off a come-back win to defeat Oregon, 85-77, in the Round of 32 of the NCAA tournament in Milwaukee, Wis. UW overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to win and trailed by as many as 14 in the first half. The Badgers opened the second half with a 17-6 run to get back in the game. Frank Kaminsky led UW with 19 points, while Traevon Jackson (16), Josh Gasser (13), Sam Dekker (12) and Ben Brust (12) also all reached double figures. The Badgers made 11 3FGs and shot 48.3% from the field. UW out-rebounded the Ducks, 36-26, including 14 o-rebounds.
In the 2015 meeting, Wisconsin never trailed in a 72-65 win in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Omaha, Neb. Oregon would tie the game at 52-52 with 5:54 remaining but the Badgers answered with a 10-2 run over the next 4:00 to gain control. The Badgers went 21-for-29 at the FT line, while Oregon was just 5-for-7. UW turned the ball over just 6 times, grabbed 10 offensive rebounds and limited the Ducks to just 4 fast break points. Sam Dekker led UW with 17 points, while Frank Kaminsky tallied 16 points, Nigel Hayes added 14 and Bronson Koenig had 12.
Wisconsin and Oregon have actually faced each other in the Bay Area before. In 1952, the Badgers claimed an 82-77 win in the first-ever meeting between the schools at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco.
Wisconsin is 4-2 all-time against Kansas State, including a pair of NCAA tournament wins in 2008 and 2011 in the most recent meetings.

DANGEROUS DAVISONOn the heels of one of the best freshman seasons in Wisconsin history, sophomore Brad Davison is heating up in year two.
Since mid-December (last 23 games), Davison has found his groove, improving in several areas.
Davison Splits, First 10 vs. Last 23 First 10 Last 23 Points/game 7.9 12.0 3FG Pct. .286 .393 Double-Digit Pts 3 14 TOs/game 1.2 1.0
On the season, Davison is averaging 10.7 ppg. He is also 4th on the Badgers, shooting 36.6% (52-142) from 3-point range. That's an improve-ment from his 35.5% (60-169) mark last season.
Davison ranks 7th in the Big Ten shooting 80.0% at the free throw line (72-90). He is also 20th in the conference with 1.0 steals per game.
A 2018 Big Ten All-Freshman Team pick, Davison ranked among the top 5 B1G freshmen in scor-ing, assists, steals, 3FG%, and FT% last season.
THE IVERSON IMPACTSenior Khalil Iverson is spearheading the Big Ten's top defensive unit (60.3 ppg in Big Ten play) and positioning himself to possibly join that group.
"Khalil Iverson can guard one through five. He's a terrific athlete and he's embraced his role as a big time defender. I don't think he gets enough credit for being the type of defender that really impacts games that he is."- ESPN's Robbie Hummel, March 7, 2019
Iverson often draws the opposing team's top scorer, ranking 2nd on the Badgers with 20 steals during conference play.
Iverson is quickly emerging as an offensive weapon for Wisconsin as well, tallying his first 2 career double-doubles in each of the Badgers' last 2 regular-season games. He had 11 points and 11 boards vs. Iowa (3/7) and then set career highs with 22p and 14r at Ohio State (3/10).
Iverson has scored in double figures in 6 of the last 8 games, averaging 12.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg and shooting 60.9% (42-69) over that stretch.
PRITZL ON POINTReserve guard Brevin Pritzl has emerged as one of the nation's best long range shooters.
In Big Ten play, Pritzl shot a Big Ten-best 53.5% from 3-point range, hitting 23-of-43. That was also the NCAA's top mark in league play among major conference players.
Best 3FG Pct., Major Conf., Conf. Play (min. 20 3FGs) Team Avg. TOs 1. Brevin Pritzl (Wisconsin) .545 23-43 2. David More (Texas Tech) .535 46-86 3. Lindy Waters (Okla. State) .500 42-84 4. De'Andre Hunter (Virginia) .500 24-48
Overall, Pritzl is shooting 42.7% (32-75) from 3-point range. He would ranked 3rd in the Big Ten, but is 1 made triples short of qualifying.
Since Feb. 1, Pritzl has gone 13-for-23 from 3-point range.
He also leads UW shooting 83.3% (30-36) from the free throw line overall. He has just 10 turn-overs in 651 minutes this season, owning the 3rd-lowest mark in the B1G.
REUVERS RISING Sophomore Nate Reuvers ranked 4th on the
team averaging 8.2 points during Big Ten play. He was also 2nd with 4.6 rpg during league play.
Reuvers leads the Badgers with 60 blocked shots on the season. He is averaging 1.8 bpg, which ranks 5th in the Big Ten. Reuvers' 60 blocks already ranks as the 5th-highest single-season total in UW history.
Earlier this season, Reuvers tied Brad Seller's 1982 UW single-game record with 9 blocked shots against Stanford (Nov. 21).
Reuvers has rewritten his career-high scoring total twice recently. The 6-11 forward had 18 points (4-8 3FGs) and 7 rebounds at Maryland and posting 22 points and 10 boards at Illinois.
Reuvers is shooting 37.5% from 3-point range (30-of-80). He is 1 of just 3 players taller than 6-11 to hit at least 30 3-pointers this season. As a freshman last season, Reuvers went 12-for-47 (25.5%) from long range.
STINGY BADGERS Wisconsin ranks 9th in the NCAA allowing
just 61.4 ppg. The Badgers have allowed just 1 opponent to crack 70 points in a regulation game this season.
KenPom.com puts the UW defense 3rd in the nation with a 87.1 adjusted defensive efficiency (points allowed per 100 possessions, adjusted). That efficiency mark is on pace to be UW's 3rd-best since 2002, trailing only the team's mark of 85.7 in 2012-13 and 86.8 in 2007-08.
The Badgers held Iowa to a season-low 45 points on March 7, the Hawkeyes lowest total by 20 points and their lowest total in 92 games.
UW has made a habit of holding foes far below their scoring average. Consider the following:
Opponent Avg. Before vs. UW Diff . at Xavier 86.5 68 -18.5 vs. Stanford 80.0 46 -34.0 vs. Oklahoma 84.3 58 -26.3 at Iowa 85.3 66 -19.3 Savannah St 79.5 60 -19.5 Minnesota 76.2 59 -17.2 Michigan 73.6 54 -19.6 Northwestern 70.5 46 -24.5 at Nebraska 76.3 51 -25.3 at Minnesota 74.4 51 -23.4 Iowa 79.7 45 -34.7
Opponents are shooting just 39.2% overall against UW and a mere 30.9% from 3-point range. Foes are making just 6.2 3FGs per game.
The Badgers have had a better FG% than their opponents in 26 of 33 games, going 23-3 in those games. UW has allowed just 1 team to shoot over 48% in any game.

HEAD COACH GREG GARD2016 JIM PHELAN NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR
Acoaching veteran of more than 20 years, Greg Gard has expertly made the jump from assistant coach to head coach at Wisconsin. After assuming the head coaching reins on Dec. 15, 2015, Gard prompt-ly led the team to the Sweet 16 in each of his first two seasons at the helm and will begin his fourth season as the head coach of the Badgers in 2018-19.
Initially an interim head coach, Gard proved quickly he was worthy of the head coaching position and was officially named as such on March 7, 2016. In three seasons, he owns the third-highest winning percentage in UW history, piloting the Badgers to a record of 57-36 (.613).
In his first two seasons with the head coaching title, Gard maintained a level of success that has become synonymous with Wisconsin Basketball. In his inaugural season as head coach, Gard led the Badgers to the 2016 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, becoming just the second-ever first-year coach to win the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award. He followed that up by leading UW to the fifth-highest single-season win total in school history (27-10) and making a second-consecutive visit to the Sweet 16.
Gard is just the third coach in the last 20 years to pilot his team to the Sweet 16 in each of his first two seasons, joining UCLA’s Steve Lavin (1996-97) and Gonzaga’s Mark Few (2000-01).
Wisconsin maintained its place among the top of the Big Ten during the transition to Gard as well. In his first season, the Badgers finished the regular season in a tie for third place in the Big Ten standings — extend-ing its streak of top-four finishes to a league-record 16th-consecutive season — with a 12-6 conference record. Gard led the Badgers to the most Big Ten wins by a first-year coach since 2004 (Bruce Weber, Illinois).
Gard’s Badgers would post another 12-6 conference campaign in 2017, finishing second in both the regular season and the Big Ten tournament. Wisconsin would cap off its 27-win season with a signature win in the NCAA tournament, knocking off the nation’s No. 1 team Villanova, 65-62, to advance to the Sweet 16.
Gard’s first two seasons as head coach at Wisconsin continued a trend of lofty academic success, plac-ing 15 players on the Academic All-Big Ten list. Over his 17 years in Madison, UW has boasted a total of 63 Academic All-Big Ten honors, trailing only Purdue and Northwestern over that span.
Long considered one of the top assistant coaches in the game, Gard served as an assistant at Wisconsin for 14-plus seasons, including the final seven as the associate head coach. In 2015, Gard was ranked as the fourth-best “X&O” assistant coach in college basketball by coachstat.net. In 2012, Gard was named No. 3 on the list of top assistant coaches in college basketball according to Bleacher Report. FOX Sports also listed Gard No. 10 on its list of the nation’s top 25 assistant coaches.
Prior to coming to Wisconsin in 2001, Gard spent the previous two seasons as an assistant at UW-Milwaukee and served as an assistant coach at UW-Platteville from 1993-99.
Prior to joining Ryan’s staff in Platteville, Gard spent three seasons at Southwestern High School and one at Platteville High School, where he served in junior high and assistant varsity coaching capacities.
In 2016, Gard and his wife, Michelle, partnered with the University of the Wisconsin and Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association, to launch Garding Against Cancer. This fundraising initiative raises funds and awareness for cancer research and care within the state of Wisconsin. In its first two years of hosting fundraising events across the state, GAC raised more than $2 million dollars in the fight against cancer.
Gard is a 1995 graduate of UW-Platteville with a degree in physical and health education. He received a master’s degree in counselor education from Platteville in 2007. Gard and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters, Mackenzie and Peyton, and a son, Isaac.

D’Mitrik Trice returns as a third-year sophomore in 2018-19 after missing the final 23 games and receiving a medical hardship last season with a foot injury.
Trice, who debuted with a strong freshman campaign in a sixth-man role in 2016-17, took over the starting point guard reins a year ago for Wisconsin. Starting the first 10 games of the sea-son, Trice averaged a team-high 31.5 minutes per game and responded by ranking third on the team with 9.4 points per game and second with 2.3 assists per game before the injury.
A sturdy ball handler and sharp-shooter, Trice shot a team-high 41.8 percent from 3-point range in 37 games as a freshman in 2016-17.
The Huber Heights, Ohio, native has earned a rep-utation as a natural leader after a successful prep career in basketball and quarterbacking his high school football team to a state championship.

After emerging as a starter in 2017-18, junior Brevin Pritzl returns for his fourth year at Wisconsin.
The hot-shooting guard began his career with a medical hardship when a broken left foot cost him nearly the entire 2015-16 season. He bounced back to appear in 24 games as a redshirt freshman in 2016-17 before averaging over 29 minutes per game last season.
Lethal from long range, Pritzl hit multiple 3-point-ers in 13 games last season, including a career-high six triples and 20 points vs. Minnesota.
The all-time leading scorer in De Pere High School history, Pritzl has rounded out his game since arriving in Madison, ranking third on the team in rebounds and tops in assist-to-turnover in 2017-18.
