For many years now, suspendedunit air heaters have beenemployed worldwide to heatindustrial buildings. Researchfrom the ‘Gasunie’ (NL) regardingvarious industrial heatingsystems has confirmed thatdirect heated gas-fired air heating is one of the most efficient heating methods.

In general

The Winterwarm HR series (high

system efficiency) combines efficien-

cy, energy savings and total comfort

control through several unique design

characteristics. The OpenTherm con-

trol makes it easy to operate the

heater and realise a comfortable

environment in the room.

Technical features

The HR is a condensing unit air

heater with axial fan. The efficiency

of the heaters is more than 106%.

The premix burner allows the heater

to modulate back to 20% of its

maximum capacity. This implicates

that the heater can very precisely

adjust its heat output to the demand

received through the room thermostat.

Therefore the energy consumption is

as low as possible. As the range of the

HR-series goes up to 150 kW, a lot of

energy can be saved by applying an

HR-heater instead of a conventional

unit air heater. Measurements by the

dutch national gas institute have

proven that these savings can add up

to 25%!

The heat exchanger is made from high

grade stainless steel and has a

guarantee period of 5 years.

Condensation discharge

The HR heaters can realize an output

of 106 %. This high efficiency requi-

res a condensation discharge system

which is located at the bottom of the

heater. For the installation on the

heater unit a siphon is supplied. Any

further required drain pipes are not

supplied. This means that an extra

siphon or gooseneck is required to be

fitted before the sewage.

Suspension

The HR is provided with 4 suspension

points M10 on top of the heater. A set

of solid cantilever brackets can be

ordered along to suspend the heater

from the wall. The heater can be

either suspended from these brackets,

or be placed on top of them. This sus-

pension set consists of 2 U-sections

with 2 supports. For suspension from

the ceiling threaded bar M10 can be

used.

Flue terminal

The installation of the combustion air

supply and the combustion gas

discharge must meet the general

prescriptions for high efficiency flue

terminals. Winterwarm has a complete

range of stainless steel flue terminals

and extra lenghts/bends available.

As the HR is provided with a flue

booster one can apply either a

horizontal (wall) or a vertical (roof)

flue terminal. The length of the flue

should not exceed 10 m taking into

account that each 45˚ elbow counts as

1 m length and each 90˚ elbow counts

as 2 m length. The dimensions of the

flue is 80, 100 or 130 depending on

the type of heater.

Controls

The HR heaters are provided with a

OpenTherm protocol, controled by an

OpenTherm clock thermostat. This is

a low voltage clock thermostat which

is programmable per day and can con-

trol 1 heater. Also it is provided with

frost protection, summer ventilation

position and a reset function.

If desired, a remote sensor can be

attached so that the control can

be placed elsewhere.
