ARTISTS_________________________ THE TEXAS TENORS is the most successful music group and third highest selling artist in the history of America's Got Talent! Since

appearing on the show in 2009, JC, Marcus, and John have released 4 studio albums, 2 PBS Specials, 4 DVDs, multiple singles, and a children's book that have earned them impressive recognition including 3 Emmy Awards, The Gelett Burgess Award for Excellence in Children's Literature, and the distinction of being Billboard Magazine's 2019 #10 Classical Artist in the World. Their most recent albums "Rise" and "A Collection of Broadway and American Classics" both debuted at #1 on the Billboard Classical Chart. These classically trained, versatile tenors have performed more than 1,400 concerts around the world including headline shows in Las Vegas, China, and a 24-city tour in the United Kingdom. With several different live concerts including rousingly patriotic "Let Freedom Sing" and holiday favorite "Deep in the Heart of Christmas," their concerts appeal to all ages and have been wildly successful from performing arts centers, casinos, and symphony halls to outdoor festivals and corporate events. In addition to collaborations with some of the most prestigious symphonies in the world including the Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and The City of Prague Orchestra, The Texas Tenors have performed at The White House National Tree Lighting, Congressional Medal of Honor Ceremonies, numerous charity events, NBA games, and The PBR World Finals in Las Vegas. In 2019, they were honored to be included among the top 50 acts in the world and the only vocal group from the United States invited to compete on NBC’s primetime series America’s Got Talent: The Champions. The Texas Tenors are celebrating 10 years together with their "10th Anniversary Tour" now through fall of 2020 featuring the hits you know and love and some brand-new music.

MARCUS COLLINS was born in a small town and began to sing at the age of 4. He first learned how to sing by emulating his favorite radio

artists like Garth Brooks and George Michael before training classically in college. Along with numerous talent shows, fairs, and cruise ships, Marcus has also performed in New York City with the cast of Hairspray, Off-Broadway’s Altar Boyz as Matthew, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and as Jinx in Forever Plaid. Beyond music he has worked extensively as an actor with appearances in over 100 episodes of network television, 25 films, and numerous commercials including P.S. I Love You, Across the Universe, 30 Rock, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Sex and the City, recurring roles on One Life To Live and As The World Turns, and the lead character in the video game Alone in the Dark. Marcus is proud to bring a contemporary element to The Texas Tenors and would like to thank everyone who voted for the group, America’s Got Talent, and his family for their love and support.

JOHN HAGEN has been described as “astonishing… a superb tenor of deep musicality,” making his Lincoln Center debut in New York City

in Teatro Grattacielo’s mounting of Mascagni’s Gulglielmo Ratcliff. Mr. Hagen created 3 tenor roles in the world premiere of The Lost Dauphane for Pamiro Opera airing on PBS. John has performed a vast array of operatic roles ranging from Alfredo in La Traviata to the title role of Otello for Cleveland Opera on tour. His favorite Broadway roles include Billy Bigelow in Carousel and Che in Evita. John has received many awards and accolades throughout his career including finalist in the New Jersey Opera Association of Verismo Opera Competition held at Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Opera Auditions Regional Finalist, and winner of numerous competitions mounted by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Mr. Hagen is highly regarded for his performances of the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, performing these works with more than a dozen symphonies including the Austin, Corpus Christi, Omaha, Nebraska and Cedar Rapids Symphonies. John has taught voice and vocal pedagogy at Wartburg College and at his alma mater, the University of Northern Iowa.

JC FISHER has entertained audiences around the world for the past 15 years. In high school, he had a passion for sports and also enjoyed

singing in church. He discovered a deeper love of singing at Wichita State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music. JC performed various roles including Rodolfo in La Boheme, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Henrick in A Little Night Music and even Miss America’s duet partner at the 1997 Miss Kansas Pageant. After college, JC traveled to Lucca, Italy where he sang in the Puccini Festival under the direction of acclaimed Italian maestro Lorenzo Malfatti. He then created a home base in Katy, TX before sailing the high seas aboard over 75 cruise ships worldwide with his one man show. This allowed JC to create a program with many different genres of music and world class arrangements which eventually led to his idea of forming The Texas Tenors with his two best friends. His most memorable performance, though, turned out to be from college where he found the young woman who would become his wife. Jennifer Vannatta, Miss Kansas 1998, married JC in 2004. They have three children; Jackson, Jenson, and Jennings.

CHRISTOPHER STANICHAR (b. 1969) is an active conductor, composer, and educator, having directed some of the finest orchestras in

Europe, Russia, Mexico, and the United States. Dr. Stanichar is skilled at conducting all styles of music, whether it is classical, new music, or pops repertoire. He is also an educator, working with ensembles of all ages, and using his passion for music as a catalyst to draw the best work from the orchestras he conducts. Dr. Stanichar celebrates his ninth season as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, one of the area’s finest semi-professional orchestras, which rehearses and performs at the B.J. Haan Auditorium on the campus of Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. The ensemble includes some of the finest musicians from Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska. Appointed to this position in 2011, Stanichar has continued NISO’s tradition of artistic excellence, innovative programming, and collaborations with international guest artists. Stanichar leads NISO in three concerts per season in addition to the annual Concert for Children where the orchestra plays for over 1,000 school children from the area. He has been praised for “his obvious energy, great joy directing, and outright enthusiasm.” (Peter Wagner, Northwest Iowa Review). Dr. Stanichar is Assistant Professor at Northern State University where he is also the Director of the Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony. He is also Music Director of the Worthington Area Symphony Orchestra in Southwest Minnesota (since 2010), which has been broadcast regionally in a Holiday special with the Native American band Brulé on Pioneer Television (Minnesota PBS). • CELEBRITY CONDUCTORS_____________ Celebrity Conductor Contest NISO’s ninth Celebrity Conductor Contest is being held tonight in conjunction with NISO’s Winter Pops Concert. Prominent local individuals have been invited to compete by soliciting support from family and friends. Each dollar donated to NISO will constitute one vote, with results tabulated during intermission. After intermission, all the candidates will be recognized and thanked for their willingness to support NISO in this fundraiser. The winner, with attire and baton of choice, will then have the distinct and well-earned privilege of conducting the orchestra in a special selection.

Steve Connell – Orange City After graduating from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in music education, Steve Connell began his career as Director of Bands at Maurice-Orange City Schools and MOC-Floyd Valley High School. During his 42-year tenure he directed the high school orchestra, pit orchestra, jazz band, pep band, concert bands, and the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band. He has led the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band in performances at some of the most famous televised parades around the United States. Steve and his wife Cindy are the parents of three sons, Steve Jr., Peter, and Paul, and nine grandchildren. Shortly after he announced his retirement in the spring of 2017, Connell was hired by Northwestern College in Orange City to form the Red Raider Athletic Band. The Red Raider Athletic Band performs at Northwestern football, volleyball, and basketball games. If selected, Connell hopes that his right arm still has some conducting left in it!

Lyle Van Raveswaay – Hull Lyle Van Ravenswaay is a native of Sioux Center, attending Dordt College and the University of South Dakota. For the past 23 years, Van Ravenswaay has been teaching instrumental music at Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. He and his wife, Mary, have two daughters, Erin Hoekstra and Jenna Potjer, and two sons, Jon and Levi. Van Ravenswaay was connected to NISO, then Sioux County Orchestra, already as an eighth grader, when he played in the trombone section. He distinctly remembers ending one song one beat BEHIND everyone else. As a competitor in the Celebrity Conductor Contest, Van Ravenswaay is planning to finish one beat AHEAD of the competition.

Dan Vanden Bosch – Sioux Center Dan Vanden Bosch is a family physician with Sioux Center Health. Growing up in Sioux Center, Vanden Bosch was involved in music from elementary school through college, including playing in the Dordt College Concert Band and singing in Concert Choir. After living for nearly 30 years in Eastern Iowa, Vanden Bosch, along with his wife, Sandy, moved back to Sioux Center in 2017. He joined the Campus-Community Band last year, working hard to get his trumpet lips in shape after playing only occasionally for 30 years. His only conducting experience occurred in junior high when his music teacher Gary Vander Hart had him direct the band during practice when he had to go to the office for something. As Vanden Bosch remembers it, the band never sounded better! Today, he frequently air-directs classical music at home or in his car. Vanden Bosch and his wife have two daughters, a son-in-law, and one (soon to be two) grandsons.

ARTISTS_________________________ graduated with a doctorate degree (D.M.A.) from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has been appointed as music director to several exceptional orchestras: Seven Hills Sinfonietta (Cincinnati), Orchestra Omaha, Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra (Omaha), and the Tri-City Symphony Youth Orchestra, and he is the founding music director of the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra, to name a few. Christopher is an active composer; his works have been commissioned and performed throughout the world. You may have heard his original work, Trisagion, that was used in Ric Burns’ PBS documentary, Andy Warhol. More recent projects include a full-length cantata, St. Mark Passion, written for the 150th anniversary of Augustana University as part of a Granskou grant. He also composed Pink Ribbon for Susan for clarinetist Christopher Hill in honor of his wife Susan who fought a courageous battle with stage-4 cancer. TrevCo-Varner Music publishes several of his works for English horn. His composition, Tales of Hans Christian Anderson, is the first concerto for nyckelharpa, a Swedish folk instrument, which premiered with the Hastings Symphony Orchestra in Nebraska. This work was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2014. This past season, Orchestra Omaha and Sioux Falls Municipal Band performed his work, Independence Overture. In his free time, some of Christopher’s interests outside of music include foreign languages, biking, and Russian icons, and he is an avid pinball player (he has owned two machines). The most important thing to Christopher is his family; all of his children are active in music. He and his wife Kris like to play duets on piano and viola, watch old episodes of The Amazing Race, cook together, and just enjoy life.
