Nearly $12,000 was raised by Greenspace rom nearby esidents o option he property, according o Rick Hawley, Greenspace xecutive Director. An Environmental Enhancement rant proposal, written by Cynthia Hawley, was submitted o the Califomia Resources gency n November,1999. he $250,000 grant, f approved, ouldbe matchedby early 37,000 in cash nd n-kind serviceslready aisedby Greenspace from surrounding and owners and esidents. Letters f support rom State Senatorack O' Connell, StateAssemblyman Abel Maldonado, he USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Cambria Community Services District were ncluded in the grant. Money given o the owners oward he option will be deducted rom the sale price. Our newest neighborhood pocket park is a2600 sq. t. lot in the Burton Circle area of Lodge Hill. (See map on back page for location.) Our Pocket Park/Forest Preserve Program has proved to be one of the most successful ventures Greenspace hasundertaken. Utilizing. an d Disposin&of Infected Pine Material for t h e California Department of Forestry and FireProtection CDF&FP). The report addressed he problems of excess greenwaste facing jurisdictions infected with the disease. Representatives f Greenspace will include this report in a program to be given this spring before the goveming boards of 22 different counties in California an d seven ities n Sa n Luis Obispo County, ncluding Cambria.
