Hello 4-H Youth, Families and Volunteers,
2020 was definitely challenging! Even though some of the challenges of 2020 will carry over into 2021, I am excited and have hope for the new year!
I have a list of activities and ideas I would love to work on an accomplish in 2021,
1. Keep walking. Mandi Dornfeld (Extension HumanDevelopment Educator) got me into walking back inAugust. I’ve been doing it since then with the helpof a fun app called “99 Walks” and it has helpedkeep me sane during a crazy 2020.
2. Help our 4-H Ambassadors host a virtual version of4-H Fun Day! (see pg.10)
3. Encourage and help facilitate more youth-ledactivities and workshops.
4. Help our camp committee plan in-person summercamp that is fun and still safe during the pandemic.
5. Partner with our Area 10 counties (Outagamie,Calumet and Waupaca) to write a grant to create a“Discover 4-H” make n take box that will be distrib-uted to after school programs and potential 4-Hyouth.
6. Test run new club organization kits with some ofour newer club leaders.
7. Strengthen partnerships with our 4-H volunteers andcommunity partners such as Winnebago CountyFair, Meat Animal Board, Farm Bureau, FFA, andlocal youth coalitions.
Have A Wonderful New Year Everyone!

Leaders’ Board Message Hello 4-H Families, Holy cow! This year flew by! Although it was not as normal and ideal as we have hoped, it was amazing to see all of the creative ways that clubs and 4-Hers were still able to maintain a positive attitude towards 4-H, connect with other 4-Hers, and develop their projects. This year has opened up a door of opportunities and new ways to do things. Just a reminder that we are still knee-deep in fundraising. Fleet Farm gift cards are still available for purchase. They make great birthday presents, and even just a nice way to say thank you to all the amazing individuals in your life. All funds made goes to supporting 4-H and the youth involved. If you are interested in purchasing a Fleet Farm gift card, contact Kay Lettau at [email protected] In addition to Fleet Farm gift cards, our one and only barn quilts are still available for purchase. They are made by the 4-H Ambassadors group. Contact Joe Kuehnl for more info 920.836.1736. Last but not least, prepare yourself to sell some Eatons Pizza coupons. Rather than our traditional 4-H pizza-making fundraiser, we decided to sell Eaton’s Pizza coupons. These pizzas are almost as good as the ones made in the 4-H Pizza Sale. Additionally, an event in the place of 4-H Fun Day called 4-H Project Days IS happening this year. It will be formatted a little differently than normal this year, so be on the lookout for more infor-mation. Just a reminder that the January All-County Meeting is coming up. It will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, January 26th at 7:00 PM. If you have any business that you would like to discuss, feel free to contact any board member. I hope you all have a Happy New Year! Best Wishes, Maria Zillges, Vice President Winnebago County Leaders’ Association

Country Roots Our club members recently wrote cheerful Christmas messages in over 70 cards for local nursing home residents. This was something we could do from our homes and drop off at a local pick up point without con-tact. The cards are distributed by nursing home staff who say it means the world to so many who do not get cards or visits. We also painted a window in the Lions Club Building in downtown Poy Sippi, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas from Country Roots 4-H club. We worked in shifts to not have contact with any others that are not in our family unit and the Lions club members were very kind and distancing as well.
- Juanene Johnson
Lakeshore Our club made tie blankets for the retirement home that Makala works at. We had two families to help and we did it while keeping socially distant. Makala found out what the residents like and we bought material to their liking. Then we got together and tied them. We are making tags for each from Lakeshore 4-H and my granddaughter will take them in.
-Kathy Wunrow
White Cedars The youth in White Cedars recently did extra chores around their homes to earn money for Project Backpack. The club matched it, donating $425.00 to the Winneconne Community School District Project Backpack account. Project Backpack provides students in need with a “backpack” / bag of food on Friday’s to help over the weekend.
-April Palecek Poygan Go-Getters During November and December we started doing craft zooms. We signed up for Adopt A Family through the Winneconne Police Department. We will be helping a family with 5 children this Christmas. We will also be having our first Zoom Christmas party Monday Dec.14!!

CLUB HAPPENINGS
Club Events and Community Service Projects!
Ridgeway Ridgeway Achievement Night was Sunday November 8th. We used a porch pickup process to share desserts, certificates and awards with our leaders and members. We shared our program over Zoom and had our installation of officers and honored our graduates at various levels including cloverbuds and explorers and recognized special awards like Key Award and Scholarship Recipients. We had a great time! Our November club meeting via Zoom allowed youth to show off their demonstration skills and start practicing their new offices as leaders in our club. We collected by porch pickup items for a Thanksgiving meal for a family in need and collected items for Operation Christmas Child boxes as well. In December we are working hard on 2 community service projects for Parkview Health Center. Our talented youth are creating a Christmas Carols and Soloist video to share with residents of the Parkview Nursing Facility. Abigail Petersen provided a piano accompaniment, Marie Dums sang a base track for others to sing along with. Finally, Sylvia Dums is busy using technology to put all our singing to gather to have 3 Christmas Carols with all of us singing together! I can't wait to see it with vocal and instrumental small group performers interspersed. Our 2nd way to bring Parkview Residents joy in a safe way is a we are hosting a Drive By parade on Sun-day December 13th. Thank you to Dana for pulling the Ambassadors float as a part of the parade to spread some Holiday Cheer. Lastly, we are using a porch pickup process for club members and their families to have Hot Cocoa Kits to enjoy during the month of December. Thank you to the Dums family for preparing these kits for us! I am proud of our members and their families as we have found some creative ways to find activities to do in 4-H while not being in-person. Thanks to all our Ridgeway club families for helping out!

Officer Training—Virtual Escape Room!
“Every 4-H-er down in Cloverville Liked 4-H a
lot… But Cornelius Covid, who lived just north of
Cloverville, Did NOT!”
Attention Club Officers! Join in the laughable virtual escape room geared just for you!
This year’s officer training was created by our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and takes place in Cloverville. But BEWARE… Cornelius Covid has some ugly plans for the 4-H-ers (that he just can’t stand)!
Each club officer will be sent an Officer Training Handbook to review some of the basics about the tasks as an officer for your club. Next, you will answer the questions in the virtual escape room to find out the complete story of How Cornelius Covid Stole 4-H in 2020!
Clubs can opt to utilize the virtual escape room as a group, via zoom or can simply have their officers complete the challenge on their own! Either way, have fun with it!
The Officer Training Virtual Escape Room information will be mailed out to all club leaders soon! A special thanks to Jody Bezio’s techy-computer skills for making the YAC’s project come to life!

Local 4-H Youth Attend Fall Forum!
What do playing games, doing cool science experiments and making paper airplanes all have in common? Nothing, but you can learn all about these activities and lots more at Wis-consin 4-H Fall Forum. This year at Fall Fo-rum, I got to meet new people, learn new things, and do cool projects too. Fall Forum also does not just teach kids new things, it can also teach adults cool things too. So, Fall Fo-rum is for everyone in 4-H in 7th grade and above and there is always something for eve-ryone at Fall Forum like engineering, cook-ing, origami, drama, leadership, arts & crafts, and lots more. Fall Forum is also held around November 6 and 7 each year and it was virtu-al for the first time ever, but I still had a lot of fun. Also, the stuff you learn at Fall Forum can then go back to the club and you can tech them what you learned. So finally, Fall Forum was super fun, and I cannot wait to go next year!
-Written by Evan Numrich, 7th Grademember of Ridgeway 4-H Club.
Fall forum is an experience that opens a gate-way for youth to become more involved in 4-H and their communities. Starting in 7th grade, members are able to attend seminars that curate to different interests and teach about leadership, culture, and opportunity. These ideals can be brought back and shared throughout all aspects of life. Furthermore, youth are able to get a taste of the different state experiences that go beyond fall forum, including but not limited to the Wisconsin 4-H state teams. Each team, drama company, art team, WLC, and Communications team, have a presence at fall forum. Members get a chance to talk to different state team members and better understand what each team offers. Overall, fall forum is a great way to connect with 4-Hers from all over and get a feel for what the program has in store.
