Wine List Un pasto senza vino e ` come una vita senza amore (A meal without wine is like life without love) Welcome to Barolos Ristorante Italiano The heart of Italian food and wine culture lies in its regionality. Each region in Italy produces a unique style of food and wine, char- acterised by the area’s local ingredients and traditional methods. Each dish made in that region signifies a direct tie to a place and the people that live there. It is important to us to honor this culture of regionality in our cooking, and in our wine selections. As such, we have deliberately constructed a wine list of mostly Italian wine, from the same regions that have inspired the food on our menu. Some names on the wine list will appear familiar; some will be varieties that you may not have heard before. We encourage you to explore our wines and feel free to ask our well-informed staff to help you create an exciting, authentic Italian dining experience.

VINI ROSATO RoseRose is on the rise. These are wines that are versatile and perfect for the Queensland climate. We have selected a few of the best from Australia and Italy.
WhiteVarietiesThere is some wonderful drinking here. The subtle and soft palate of Soave to the salty mineralty of Sardinian Vermentino. Fiano, a thick-skinned variety, is a bit more oily and textured (a great alternative for Pinot Gris drinkers) while its neighbor in Italy Greco di Tufo is more citrus driven. Arneis and Cortese are both varieties that are fantastic to enjoy with food. Arneis is medium- bodied with melon and lemon flavours and perfect to pair with chicken and pork. Cortese is straw-coloured with bitter almond and citrus notes and is a great match with seafood.2016 Fasoli Gino ‘Borgoletto’ Soave - Veneto,IT

LightRedsWho said Italy can’t do Pinot Noir? Pinot Nero from the northern region of Alto Adige & the Aosta Valley has perfume, spice and finesse to rival that of the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula. That being said we couldn’t write a Pinot Noir list without including some of the antipodean stars. You’ll recognize the icons of Felton Road and Yabby Lake, bit there are more than a few surprises on our list that reward the curious.
RedVarietiesSouthernItalianRedsFrom the rich and ripe fruits of warm climate Nero d’Avola and Primitivo, to the plush plum fruits of Montepulciano from Abruzzo there is a lot to like here for people that are more used to drinking South Australian Shiraz. Plenty of fruit flavor you’ll recognize. As for the cooler climate and elevation of Mount Etna, Nerello Mascalese is medium bodied and a bit more reminiscent of Pinot Noir with a more mineral palate from the volcanic vineyards they are grown in.
Savoury&SpiceThis is Italian wine at its very best. No else can wrap up spicy aromas, blockbuster fruit and long tannins like the reds from Tuscany & Piedmont. The Sangiovese variety that is used to create Chianti is the obvious choice to pair with red meat – particularly our grass-fed beef. Think of Nebbiolo (The King of Grapes) as Pinot Noir on steroids – the perfect match to duck, truffle or even some of our Wagyu beef. Barbera is a medium bodied, plush fruited and a perfect luncheon wine.Nebbiolo
WineFocus–NebbioloPiedmont is home to Barolo, one of the world’s great wines wine made from the Nebbiolo grape. This highly sought-after wine is made in 11 small communes (villages) around the Langhe hills in the centre of Piedmont, Italy. Piedmont is located in the top northwestern corner of Italy at the foot of the Italian Alps. The region is a mecca for food and wine, the slow food movement was born here, and the local people are fiercely passionate about their locally produced food and wine. Drinking Barolo is one of the most ethereal and powerful experiences in wine. These wines blend delicate aromatics of rose, truffle & earth with powerful tannins and structure. Quite simply, they have to be experienced to be believed! Below are a few of our favorites listed by the commune where they are from;
FruitRich&FullBodiedValpolicella is primarily the indigenous Corvina grape, but also Rondinella, Molinara and Corvinone (among others). As Valpolicella they are fruit forward, fresh and plump. Ripasso is a step up in palate weight while Amarone (including a portion of dried grapes) is intensely rich often showing port like sweetness and blockbuster fruit cake character.
