Industry Exposure Windells Academy chose to implement industry
trips and cultural experiences to provide students exposure outside
of the traditional classroom environment. Industry trips give
students an up close and personal look into the worlds leading
snowboard and ski brands. Students tour the facilities and engage
with in$uential leaders that call the shots at companies like Nike,
Ride, K2, Line, Capita, Union, Bon#re, Salomon, Dakine, and
Atmosphere. Mervin Manufactur-ing, the producer of Lib Tech, GNU,
and Roxy, o"ers students inside access to the largest snowboard and
ski manufacturing operation in the United States. These experiences
are unmatched, by any other sports academy, and gives our students
immeasurable real life experience and exposure to the world of
action sports. Here are a few of the notable companies in the
industry that have launched their brand at Windells: Skullcandy,
Bon#re, Grenade, Atmoshpere, Rome Snowboards, Von Zipper, Nike 6.0,
Line and Armada.
Residence Life Our 53-acre private campus and indoor recreation
facilities provide the ultimate living experience for all attending
Windells Academy. Just steps outside their dorm, students have back
yard access to ridiculous amounts of concrete skate features and
rails woven throughout the landscape. In B.O.B., our 12,000 square
foot training facility, students enjoy use of the foam pit, Olympic
size trampoline, bowl, street course, mini-ramp, BMX/Freeride dirt
tracks and much more. The facilities at Windells are world
renowned. Weekend Trips Students will take a variety of trips
throughout the year to experience Oregon life. O" campus activities
include, but are not limited to; sur#ng, rafting, industry tours,
community activities, exploring downtown Portland and state wide
#eld trips. On Hill Training Windells athletes have access to snow
12 months a year. During the summer months, when other parks and
academies are closed, students have exclusive access to Windells
private parks, pipes, and freestyle terrain features. The ability
to train year round gives our athletes an edge up in preparing to
compete locally, nationally and internationally. Dry Land Training
Students are actively engaged in activities including
skateboarding, roller blading, trampoline, foam pit and plyometric
sessions focused on increasing strength, agility and $exibility.
Interaction with Pros and Industry Leaders Throughout the year,
Windells campus plays host to the whos who of the snowboard, ski,
skate and BMX industries. From photo shoots, to video features or
those just passing through, it is common to see industry leaders
and the worlds top action sports athletes hanging out at
Windells.

The Windells Advantage Easy access to Mt. Hoods world-class ski
resorts provides student-athletes the opportunity to ride on
perfectly designed freestyle features, while maximiz-ing training
and improving their overall skills. Year round students have access
to natural snow at Mt. Hood resulting in the reduction of
unnecessary travel expenditures. The training platform for the
athletes allows them to take what they have learned during the
summer and fall semesters, and implement it dur-ing the winter and
spring competitive seasons. Our schedule, snow access and
facilities give the athletes the Windells Advantage over the
competition.
Flexible Learning Environment The Kaplan High School virtual
educational program gives students the oppor-tunity to choose from
a variety of classes and personally design their schedule. With
open enrollment, classes are o"ered throughout the calendar year
giving students the ability to complete assignments at their own
pace and assume a heavier workload for those who desire to adjust
their schedule during the competition season. This program
encourages each individual student to attain their personal goals,
achieve greatness, and reach new levels as a student-athlete.
Kaplan High School Windells Academy students are enrolled in a
virtual education program facili-tated through Kaplan High School.
Kaplan High School is fully accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and The Commission on International
and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). It is the leader in
col-lege preparatory testing and preparation programs, and provides
students the necessary tools to be successful in college entrance
exams. This is an essential component of the program as many of our
student athletes wish to go to col-lege and pursue professional
careers.
