With excellent transportlinks, it is easy to reach by train or underground fromall of London’s major airports, rail and coach stations. If you let us know your travel plans, we can advise onthe best way to get from your airport or station to youraccommodation. Alternatively, we can arrange ameeting service, where a driver will meet you at yourairport or station and take you to your accommodation,making sure you are safely inside before leaving you.

Wimbledon (London Transport Network Zone 3) hasfast connections to Central London (Zone 1) and a greatchoice of transport options. The school is only 3 minutes’walk from the train and underground station.l Overground train There is a frequent service
(16 trains per hour) from Wimbledon Station to Waterloo, with a 15 minute journey time.

The charming Edwardian façade of our main buildinghides a busy school with excellent educational andrecreational facilities, including a beautiful gardenwhere you can relax between lessons. The LondonExam Centre is part of WSE and is a dedicated test sitefor the Cambridge, IELTS, Trinity, PTE Academic andOET examinations.
Depending on the time of year, we have between 200and 350 students studying with us, from over 80different countries. This gives a wonderful opportunityto make new friends from around the world, learnabout each other’s cultures and, most importantly,speak English together!

Our Facilities
We have 25 well-equipped classrooms, 21 with Smarttechnology. If you’d like to do some extra work, thereis also a multimedia Study Centre with a manageravailable every afternoon to help you with yourindividual study programme. We also have a readinglibrary, with a range of books to suit every taste and alarge film library. There is WiFi access throughout theschool and free Internet access from our computers.
Your Time
Your time outside the classroom can be just asimportant in developing your language skills as yourtime spent in lessons, so our large common room is apopular place for students to socialise and relax. Thereare games, newspapers and magazines, as well as PCs,a TV and DVD player - you can borrow DVDs from ourlarge film library. We also encourage all our students totake part in the many sports and social activities onoffer.
Refreshments can be bought from our snack-bar, or youcan visit one of the many cafés, restaurants, shops andfast-food outlets close to the school.

Our school is situated right in the centre ofWimbledon in a spacious, typically EnglishEdwardian house, which still has its originalantique fireplaces and beautiful stained glasswindows. In addition to light, airy spaces forrelaxation, we are one of the few Londonschools with a garden, where you can sitoutside and enjoy the changing seasons. WSE has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere,thanks to our attractive premises and thewarmth and dedication of our staff.

Our Students
In a typical year we will welcome students from over80 different countries. Our minimum age is 16 (but fromtime to time we have younger students in closedgroups).From September to June most students arebetween 20 and 30 and as we have no upper age limitabout a quarter of our students are over 30. In July andAugust there is a larger proportion of older teenagersenjoying summer vacation courses.
We run a separate programme for children aged 11-16in July and August at Lord Wandsworth College, abeautiful English boarding school.

Standard Course24 x 50 minute lessons per week
On this programme you study every morning and ontwo afternoons per week. This gives you an intensivelearning programme but also leaves three afternoonsfree for self-study, exploring London, social activities,relaxing or taking riding or tennis lessons.

Our Staff

Our Class Sizes
Our average class size is 12 students, with a maximumof 14 (16 in General English and Cambridge examclasses in July and August) and some courses have amaximum of 10.

Homestay
Homestay is our most popular option and is the bestway to improve your English, whilst at the same timeexperiencing a British way of life. Host families varyfrom couples with children to people living alone. Allour families are carefully selected and regularlychecked by our specialist staff and many have providedexcellent homestay accommodation for our studentsover many years.
Around one third of our families are within walkingdistance of the school, whilst for the others themaximum journey time is 25 minutes by bus or twostops on the London Underground or overgroundtrain.* Wimbledon is very well served by all types ofpublic transport.
*The journey may be slightly longer in July and August.

House-share - The Self-catering Option
As the name suggests, you will share a house with agroup of fellow students from the school, in one of ourresidential houses. All our house-share properties havea living room with a TV, where you can relax and chatto your housemates, and lovely gardens in which toenjoy the sun. They also have well-equipped kitchens,though there’s always the temptation to eat out in oneof the many local cafés and restaurants.
Superior House-share
King’s Lodge is a large house, ideally situated in thecentre of Wimbledon, just two minutes’ walk from thetrain and underground station, shopping centre andcinema - and only ten minutes from school. There arenumerous cafés, restaurants and bars in the immediatearea if you wish to eat out. It has nine study bedrooms(single, twin and double) each with its own bathroom.
Queen’s Lodge is a beautiful house in a quiet residentialroad only ten minutes’ walk from the school and thetown centre, and five minutes from the shops, cafés,bars and restaurants of West Wimbledon. It has six largesingle study-bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.Queen’s Lodge is for students aged 25+.
For those who prefer a more independentapproach to their accommodation, house-sharing is a popular option allowing you tomake new friends, socialise and practise yourEnglish with fellow students.

Standard House-share
We have several houses located in pleasant residentialareas in South West Wimbledon. They are only tenminutes from the school by bus or thirty minutes onfoot. There are a few shops and cafés just around thecorner from each of the houses.

Catholic Student Hostel
This facility is operated by the Catholic Church and islocated in Southfields, home of the famous All EnglandLawn Tennis Club. It is only available to unmarriedwomen, aged between 18 and 27 years. Whilst thehostel has no connection with the school, we are able tomake bookings on your behalf if required, subject toavailability.

Students attending our more business-orientatedTailored English Courses often prefer to stay in localhotels, guest houses and AirBnB accommodation or, ifthey are perhaps studying for a longer period, in arental apartment. We have a wide and varied range of sports andactivities on offer so that you can really make the mostof your stay. All activities which take place in the schoolare free, and sports are free or may have a small charge.All sports equipment is provided - you only need tobring the right shoes. We think sports are a great way of getting together andmaking new friends. Every week we organise groupsports such as:l Tennis What else?! Once a week we take a group
to Wilton Tennis Club, weather permitting (notwinter). Subject to court availability, you can playthere for free on Monday to Thursday afternoons.
