“It was in the Library that I began to realize the difference between the University and high school, and between the cozy but restricted world of my hometown and the vast world of the mind as embodied in a great research university. Wilson Library became for me the physical symbol of the University's commitment to excellence in education and scholarship”

- Joe A. Hewitt, University Librarian Emeritus (Oct, 2004)
