Chamber Zone includes:

Free tickets for one of our specially selected Wigmore Hall Series concertsPlease note, there are approximately 35 Chamber Zone tickets available per concert

A free workshop in your school

Free programmes and interval ice creams

A deposit of £50 is required for all school bookings, which will bereimbursed on arrival. School groups must book concert tickets atleast 1 week before the date of the concert. No free tickets will beallocated on the night without prior booking.

Workshop leaders will visit your school andfacilitate an interactive music session to complement the individualconcert programme. Britten Sinfonia Featured WorkshopWednesday 5 December 10.00 am – 12 noon

Linked to the Britten Sinfonia concert at Wigmore Hall on the same day, thisinteractive two-hour workshop will introduce your students to the music featuredin the Britten Sinfonia concert. Participants will create their own music inspiredby the repertoire they are about to hear and discover the stories behind the notes.Each workshop features players from Britten Sinfonia and is led by inspiringcomposer and workshop leader, James Redwood.

Key Stage Concerts

One-hour, interactive concerts for school groups

This term’s concerts include:

ELIAS STRING QUARTETKey Stage 2 Schools’ Concert

Friday 30 November

11.00 am – 12 noon

Join the wonderful young musiciansfrom the Elias String Quartet for thisinteractive introduction to the music for violin,viola and cello. Be inspired, take part in musical games and listento a programme of fantastic music from throughout the ages.

Supported by a teaching resource pack with lots of music-makingactivities, this concert is ideal for children learning string instrumentsthrough the Wider Opportunities scheme.

THE PRINCE CONSORTKey Stage 2 Schools’ Concert

Friday 7 December 11.00 am – 12 noon

Young people from Key Stage 2 are invited to join vocalensemble The Prince Consort for an interactive introductionto choral music, showcasing different combinations of voiceand piano, from solos to small ensembles. Presented byvocalist and educator Isabelle Adams, young people will beinvited to warm-up and sing some songs with The PrinceConsort, conduct the singers and ask them questions.

Supported by a teacher resource pack with accompanying CD.

REICH +GCSE and A-Level students

Wednesday 12 December 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm

Students from Secondary Schools are invited to join stunning virtuosicpercussionist Joby Burgess for this concert of live music by Steve Reich.Including the Edexcel GCSE set work, Electric Counterpoint, Joby willlead the audience through an eclectic Reich inspired programme,encouraging open discussions with the audience to explore the composer’sinfluence on other genres. This concert will be supported by a resourcepack and will be filmed and made available on the Wigmore Hall websitefor revision and further viewing in school.

Calling all budding young musicians!Join professional musicians from Ignite

as they collaborate with contemporaryjazz artists to create and perform brand

new music inspired by jazz. Join a creative ensemble, meet other young musicians

and take your new music to the WigmoreHall stage.

2-Day Course: Tuesday 13 and Tuesday 27 November9.30 am – 3.30 pm

Suitable for all types of practicionerLimited to 25 applicants

£100 for both days, including lunch

A repeat of last year’s sold out trainingcourse, this introduction to early years’music-making is ideal for nursery, receptionand foundation stage practitioners looking to develop confidence in creativemusic-making. Led by Chamber Tots workshop leaders John Webb and IsabelleAdams, participants will explore the value of music in early years’ developmentand address the connections between musical creativity and EYFS Curriculum.Participants will develop skills in leading singing and percussion activities aswell as exploring free play activities and the benefits of child led creative play.All participants will receive a resource pack and accompanying CD.
