Why  Transceivers  Matter  

Ø Op#cal  transceivers  are  hot-­‐pluggable  units  used  for  data  transmission  over  fiber  op#c  networks  at  speeds  of  10/100/1000  Mbps  and  10/40  Gbps    

§  100  Gbps  available    Ø  The  most  common  units  are  the  SFP  or  Small  Form-­‐factor  

pluggable  op#c.            Ø  These  units  also  come  in  mul#ple  form  factors  such  as  

SFP,  SFP+,  XFP,  X2,  Xenpak  and  GBIC  with  support  for  CWDM,  DWDM  and  Bi-­‐Direc#onal
