The Release Notification System (RNS) allows you to view electronic messages and updates for cargo control numbers associated with your carrier code.

Many carriers use this as their primary method of tracking shipment updates from Canada Border Services Agency.

The intent of this webinar is to provide you the basics as to how RNS works, and how to get set up to use this feature of BorderConnect.

How to Send Status Queries to CBSA using RNSStatus queries allow you to request the most up-to-date information regarding a Canadian-bound shipment. This is useful when the transaction number is not being provided in RNS. It is also useful to see if the shipment is still being processed by CBSA, or if it is rejected but not being provided in RNS.

STEP 1Select ‘Send New Status Query’ from PARS Shipments menu option.

STEP 2Type in the Cargo Control Number and click ‘Send Status Query Request to CBSA.

How to Send Status Queries to CBSA using RNSThe status query search page allows you to view a history of all responses from CBSA. It will also update your shipment status in the RNS listing page as well.

STEP 3Wait for a response from CBSA (5-10min) and view the updated status on the ‘Status Query search’ page.

Can You Get Setup Today?

Yes! To register for RNS PARS Tracking go to www.borderconnect.comand click ‘Sign Up Now’ OR if you’re an existing customer call BorderConnect to get your RNS application.

1. Enter your company details and verify your email. Once that’s been done a sales representative will follow-up with you in 1 business day or less. Or call us!

2. If you have a valid Carrier Code you’ll need to register for RNS from your BorderConnect company profile.

3. Print out your RNS application, sign it and send it back to BorderConnect, or the fax/email provided on the registration. Once CBSA approves your application (approx. 5-10 business days) you will then start receiving Transaction numbers, and shipment updates in BorderConnect.
