Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
Turned posts are a wonderful way to
“frame” a cabinet and provide a focal
point in a room.
At StarMark Cabinetry, we add turned
posts (we have hundreds to choose
from) without taking away precious
inches from your storage.
The designer specifed wide stiles on
this sink base cabinet so there is room
for two turned posts.
Can you get wide stiles with stock cabinetry? No. A stock cabinet will lose 6” of
inside space in order to create the
room needed to install the pair of
turned posts we used on the cabinet
above. SIX INCHES! Ouch.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Can they create focal points?
A “solution” used by stock cabinet manufacturers: dead space
A Wide Stile provides an area for beautiful turned posts without taking away from storage space inside the cabinet.

Stock cabinet companies use a “filler” so there is a place to attach a turned post. Looks good on the outside, but not functional inside.

The designer specified a “toe
treatment” for the cabinet, to give the
cabinet a furniture look and feel. We
have several looks to choose from.
At StarMark Cabinetry, our toe
treatments are an integral part of the
cabinet when it is manufactured, so it
receives the finish when the cabinet
does. There won’t be variances in the
color between the cabinet and the toe
treatment.
Can you specify toe treatments with stock cabinetry? You can do toe treatments in stock
cabinetry, too, but it will be a separate
piece to be installed on the job site.
That’s one more piece to install, one
more piece to keep track of, and
one more piece that may look quite
different in color than the rest of the
cabinetry.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Will they know they can achieve a
furniture look by specifying a toe
treatment?

What you see isn’t always what you get. What will you be getting?
Homeowners need to be wary when they’re visualizing their dream
home through the visuals in a stock cabinet brochure. What you
see isn’t always what you get.
Stock cabinetry comes in pieces. You know that tall cabinet that
looked so striking in the stock cabinetry brochure? You—or more
likely the finish carpenter you hired to do this for you—must stack
two cabinets (in hopes that the pieces match in color and size) to
achieve the look. You (or the finish carpenter) attach all the end
panels and fillers (and hope they didn’t get damaged in shipping
and the seams don’t show too much). Then you, because you are
the one paying for it, hope that it looks good when it’s done.
Semi-custom StarMark Cabinetry is ready to install with little or
no job site manipulation. Installers love working with StarMark
Cabinetry—ask them!

REAL LIFE EXAMPLE #3 The designer specified turned posts to frame
the desk area of this kitchen. The turned posts
are field installed onto the cabinet’s “wide
stile.” At StarMark Cabinetry, a wide stile is
accomplished by manufacturing the stile of the
cabinet’s face frame a bit wider than usual. It’s
not separate from the cabinet. It’s integral to
the cabinet, so it receives the finish when the
cabinet does.
Can you specify wide stiles with stock cabinetry? You can do wide stiles in stock cabinetry, too,
but it’s a separate piece to be installed on the
job site. This will increase labor hours. This
separate piece will leave a visible seam when
it’s installed.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Will they know they can achieve a furniture look
by specifying a turned post?
Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
The designer specified a “combined
cabinet” for the cabinet above the
sink.
At StarMark Cabinetry, we can
combine two wall cabinets into one
cabinet, so there are three functional
doors on one cabinet box. This look
could be accomplished with two
cabinets, but a seam would be visible.
In addition, the designer specified
“flush bottom” so the bottom panel
is flush with the side panels, for a
smooth look.
Can you combine cabinets with stock cabinetry? No. To achieve this look and
functionality, two cabinets would
have to be installed, instead of just
one, plus a panel would have to be
field applied to finish the bottom.
This results in more labor costs, more
seams and more finish inconsistency.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Are they remembering to take into
account the view from the bottom?

Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
The designer specified a “stacked
cabinet” for the cabinet in the utility
room. At StarMark Cabinetry, we
can build three wall cabinets that
are stacked into one cabinet. The
beautiful result? In one cabinet, there
are mullion doors for display, solid
doors for storage, and five apothecary
drawers, all on one cabinet box.
This look could be accomplished
with three cabinets, but why not take
advantage of stacked cabinets? By
“stacking” three cabinets into one,
there is only one cabinet to install, and
two visible seams are eliminated.
Can you stack cabinets with stock cabinetry? No. To achieve this look and
functionality, three cabinets would
have to be installed, instead of just
one. NOTE: with stock cabinetry,
you cannot get a cabinet that has
solid wood doors, mullion doors and
apothecary drawers on the same
cabinet.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Can they accomplish both good looks
and function?
REAL LIFE EXAMPLE #5
Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
The designer specified a “stacked
cabinet” for this cabinet. Two wall
cabinets were stacked into one
cabinet that contains two types of
doors: mullion doors, for display, and
solid doors, for storage.
This look could be accomplished with
two cabinets; however, combining the
cabinets results in just one cabinet to
install and eliminates a visible seam.
Can you stack cabinets with stock cabinetry? No. To achieve this look and
functionality, two cabinets would
have to be installed, instead of just
one. NOTE: with stock cabinetry, you
cannot get a cabinet that has both
solid wood doors and mullion doors
on the same cabinet.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Are they asking you about your
display needs?

Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
A “solution” used by stock cabinet manufacturers: “kind of flush”
The right side of this cabinet is visible.
The designer specified a “flush end”
for the cabinet for a smooth finished
appearance that works well with the
cabinetry adjacent to it.
As you can see above, our flush end
is accomplished by manufacturing the
right side panel to be flush with the
face frame. The right side panel is not
separate from the cabinet. It’s integral
to the cabinet, so it receives the finish
when the cabinet does.
Another plus: flush finished ends
create a flat surface that accepts
moulding applications well.
Can you do flush ends with stock cabinetry? You can achieve only “the look” of
flush ends, and the results are inferior
to StarMark’s true flush ends.
Stock cabinet companies use a
separate piece, called a “skin.” The
finish on this separate piece may be
widely variant from the cabinet. It is
installed on the job site, increasing
labor costs. The “skin” leaves a visible
seam when it’s installed. Finally, after
all this, your cabinet may not truly
have “flush” ends. There still may be a
slight recess.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Are they making sure that moulding
applications are going to work out?
Have they considered what parts of
the cabinetry will be visible?

Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
The side of this cabinet is visible
to people who are seated in the
living room.The designer specified
“decorator panels” for the cabinet, so
the look of the cabinetry is carried out
throughout the design.
As you can see above, our decorator
panel is integral to the cabinet, so it
receives the finish when the cabinet
does.
Can you get decorator panels with stock cabinetry? You can do decorator panels in stock
cabinetry, too, but it’s a separate
piece to be installed on the job site.
This will increase labor costs. The
finish on this separate piece may be
widely variant from the cabinet, and
this separate piece will leave a visible
seam when it’s installed.
Who’s designing your kitchen? Can they continue the look of the
cabinetry through the entire room?
REAL LIFE EXAMPLE #8
Why StarMark Cabinetry is your best cabinetry value.
To accommodate a non-standard
ceiling height, the designer specified
a cabinet to be only 11” high. An
eyebrow valance was added as the
top rail.
Can you get a cabinet that is 11” high with stock cabinetry? No.
