Why Love and Light?
The theme of this year's gala, Love and Light, reflects the work that charitableinstitutions such as SAHF do daily: provide love and hope to the most vulnerablemembers of our society.
Love is a positive universal expression that binds us to one another. Its recipient isreassured that someone, or many, care about him or her and their lives. Its giver isequally rewarded. A circle of love, received and given, establishes connections that areindestructible.
Light connotes hope, warmth and purity. When a person’s life is filled with darknessand hopelessness, the presence of light can bring forth transformative changes in theirwellbeing and sense of self.
The continued generosity of our friends and supporters affords SAHF the ability tobring love and light to the lives of all our beneficiaries in El Salvador, and for that weare very grateful. Thank your for helping us create circles that endure. Thank you forjoining our cause and making our mission sustainable.
Please join us at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Coconut Grove on October 1st to celebrate33 years of service at our annual benefit gala.
We would love to see you then!
VISION
We envision El Salvador as a countrywhere all its citizens can meet their basichuman needs.
MISSION
To enhance the well-being of theunderserved people in El Salvadorthrough human development programsimplemented in partnership with our in-country Foundation, FUSAL, and otherorganizations.
Celebrating Mr. Luis Poma’s100th Birthday
In 1983, the Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation(SAHF) was founded in Miami, Florida by Mr. Luis Poma and agroup of friends who were concerned about the social issuesaffecting the less fortunate in El Salvador. Consequently, a sisterorganization, FUSAL was also formed in-country to be therecipient and distributor of aid being shipped from the UnitedStates.
Mr. Poma was an invaluable member of the foundation’s growthand vision until his passing in 1996.
We at SAHF feel very humbled by the incredible footprint that Mr.Poma left in the foundation. Through his hard work, dedication, and most importantly his love for El Salvador and its people.
This year, Mr. Poma would be 100 years old. We are certain thathe would be very proud of the accomplishments his vision helpedto create. He is always missed but his spirit carries on in ourmission.
