OUR BATTALION

Our battalion has 29 detachments, that’s is split into five companies covering an area spanning from Thurso to Ft William and Stornoway to Elgin (an area equivalent to the size of Belgium).

We currently have about 450 cadets in the battalion and they are looked after by about 90 dedicated Adult Instructors and Officers.

All of our adults are fully trained and qualified and are also subject to the Health and Safety Act.

We have a Duty of Care towards our Cadets as well as our fellow Adults.

WHAT HAS THE ARMY CADETS GOT TO OFFER ME???

Each Detachment Night, Company Weekend or Annual Camp you will be given training towards your Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) to pass your ‘star level’.

To pass your ‘star level’ there are different subjects to complete;

• Drill & Turnout• Military Knowledge• Skill at Arms and Shooting• Navigation• Fieldcraft• First Aid• Expedition• Physical Recreation• Cadet and the Community

Syllabus Training

Once passed your Basic you would then progress onto the next star level (One Star) and be given training from the same subjects but at a more advanced level.

At Three Star you will start to get taught how to teach lessons to enable you to become a cadet instructor so you can transfer the knowledge you have learnt to the younger cadets.

The Army Cadets have five star levels (Basic – Four Star).
