A presentation by IIED researcher Abbu Buxton to the Intergovernmental Forum on mining, minerals, metals and sustainable development in Geneva on 24 October 2014.
IIED's mining work aims to help improve the sector’s contribution to sustainable development, using evidence, action and influence in partnership with others.
Our work spans both large and artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) looking at issues such as informality and company-community relations. We conduct in-country, independent research, hold mutli-stakeholder dialogues and engage in international and national policy processes.
Through this we aim to provide evidence to inform policy and neutral spaces that bring multiple stakeholders together to identify and implement collaborative solutions.
