Is it because it is simply a commandment?
We cannot deny it. It also has great rewards.

Why Dawah? Al-Maida, 5:3- Perfect and complete religion

This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion

Page 3: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Al-Baqara, 2:213-Allah has guided

. [Shakir 2:213] (All) people are a single nation; so Allah raised

prophets as bearers of good news and as warners, and He revealed with them the Book with truth, that it might judge between people in that in which they differed; and none but the very people who were given it differed about it after clear arguments had come to them, revolting among themselves; so Allah has guided by His will those who believe to the truth about which they differed and Allah guides whom He pleases to the right path.

Why Dawah? Al-Imran, 3:85-The only acceptable religion

. [Shakir 3:85] And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it

shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.

Al-Nahl, 16:125-Dawah is a commandment

. [Shakir 16:125] Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and

goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way.

Why Dawah? Al-Ahzaab, 33:40-Muhammad (sww) is last messenger

. [Shakir 33:40] Muhammad is not the father of any of your

men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the prophets; and Allah is cognizant of all things.

Al-Anbiyaa, 21:107-He (sww) was sent as a mercy for all.

[Shakir 21:107] And We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds.

Why Dawah? Al-Ahzaab, 33:45-46-Dawah is the sunnah of

Muhammad (sww)

.

[Shakir 33:45] O Prophet! surely We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news and as a warner,

.

[Shakir 33:46] And as one inviting to Allah by His permission, and as a light-giving torch.

Page 7: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Yusuf, 12:108-Dawah is also the way of all Muslims

.

[Shakir 12:108] Say: This is my way: I call to Allah, I and those who follow me being certain, and glory be to Allah, and I am not one of the polytheists.

Page 8: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Al-Imran, 3:110-Dawah is the best to serve Allah

.

[Shakir 3:110] You are the best of the nations raised up for (the benefit of) men; you enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah; and if the followers of the Book had believed it would have been better for them; of them (some) are believers and most of them are transgressors.

Why Dawah? Fuzzilat, 41:33-The best of the speeches

.

[Shakir 41:33] And who speaks better than he who calls to Allah while he himself does good, and says: I am surely of those who submit?

Page 10: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Abdullah bin Masud (ra) narrated that Allah's

Messenger (sww) said: Do not wish to be like anybody except in two cases: The case of a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way; and that of a man whom Allah has given religious wisdom (Quran and Sunnah); and he gives his verdicts according to it and teaches it to others. (Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 89, Number 255).

. [Shakir 39:33] And he who brings the truth and (he who)

accepts it as the truth-- these are they that guard (against evil).

. [Shakir 39:34] They shall have with their Lord what they

please; that is the reward of the doers of good;.

[Shakir 39:35] So that Allah will do away with the worst of what they did and give them their reward for the best of what they do.

Why Dawah? Even one person accept Dawah, that is a great success

Sahl bin Sad (ra) narrated that Allah's Messenger (sww) said: Be patient till you face them (the infidels) and invite them to Islam and inform them of what Allah has enjoined upon them. By Allah! If a single person embraces Islam at your hands (through you) that will be better for you than the red camels, Bukhari, 4/192 and 5/51.

Abu Masud Al-Ansri (ra) narrated that Allah's Messenger (sww) said: One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer, (Muslim 1893).

Page 14: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Contribution in Dawah has reward of manifold

Khuraym bin Fatik (ra) narrated that Allah's Messenger (sww) said: If anyone makes a contribution towards Allah's path, 700 times as much will be recorded to his credit. (Tirmidhi. Nasai).

Page 15: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? At-Tauba, 9:71-Dawah is religious duty

.

[Shakir 9:71] And (as for) the believing men and the believing women, they are guardians of each other; they enjoin good and forbid evil and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Messenger; (as for) these, Allah will show mercy to them; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Page 16: Why Dawah?

Why Dawah? Dawah does not have to be voluminous

Abdullah bin Arnr (ra) narrated that the Prophet (sww) said: Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence. (Bukhari, Vol.4, Hadith 667).

Abu Said Al-Khudri (ra) narrated: I heard Allah's Messenger (sww) as saying: He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with his hand; and if he has not enough strength to do it, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not enough strength to do it, then he should abhor it from his heart and that is the least of faith. (Muslim, book 1, faith, Hadith no. 0079).
