Query Tabs

A query tab displays records of other business processes that reference the source record. In Unifier

9.14, query tabs are added to the following business processes:

Contracts: Change Orders and Payment Applications tabs.

Purchase Orders: Amendments and Invoices tabs.

Vendors: Contracts tab.

Blanket Purchase Orders: Work Releases tab.

Note that although New and Copy are enabled in the tabs of Vendors and Blanket Purchase

Orders, you cannot use them because of cross-level incompatibility -- they are company-level

business processes and the tabs display project-level business processes.

Benefit: See records of the referencing business processes -- or create them within tabs of the

commitment form itself -- instead of navigating to the business process log.

Location: In a project's Navigator, navigate to the Contracts business process log in Cost Controls.

Open a record to view the tabs.

Benefit: Help files provide general and step-specific details, including business process purpose

and characteristics, workflow diagram, upper and line item field descriptions. Use the help file at

any time during record creation or task completion.

Location: In a project's Navigator, navigate to the business process log in Cost Controls. On the

log's Help menu, select help for the business process. Alternatively, open a record and access the

PDF file from the Help menu within the form.

Preventive Maintenance

The Preventive Maintenance module in 9.14 is enhanced with the addition of a data picker that

displays source Asset BP information.

Asset Data Picker on PM Book

Beginning in Unifier 9.14, if a data picker is placed on the upper form of a Preventive Maintenance

Book business process, it will display source business process information when a record is

auto-created.

For example:

An Asset business process record auto-creates a PM Book business process record.

PM Book record holds an Asset data picker that gets populated with the source asset

information.

PM Book auto-creates a Work Orders record for the asset's maintenance.

Work Orders record displays the asset information from the PM Book in matching fields.

Benefits

Prior to the release, when a PM Book was auto-created from an Asset, it used only a BP

Picker to point back to the source Asset record. When a Work Orders record was

auto-created from that PM Book record, the source asset information was not carried over.

The current enhancement of using an asset data picker changes that functionality.

Does not need data picker query configuration in Unifier's Administration Mode.

Location: Navigate to the PM Book log in the Preventive Maintenance module. Open any PM Book

record to view the source asset information. Open the auto-created work order in the Work Orders

tab to view the carried-over source asset information.

Cash Flow

Unifier release 9.14 includes the following two cash flow enhancements:

System-defined summary curve

Filters

Default Cash Flow Summary Curve

Associating a cash flow curve to a summary curve is a manual process in Cash Flow modules 9.13

and earlier. Starting with Unifier 9.14, a system-defined summary curve automatically includes new

cash flow curves you create in a project when roll-up status of curves is active. It also includes all

existing curves in the project.

Cash flow properties of each cash flow curve displays the default summary curve in the Summary

tab.

Note that this enhancement does not prevent the manual addition of a cash flow curve to other

summary curves.

Benefits:

Enables a consolidated view of the Estimated Forecast at Complete (EFC) by summarizing

all commitments cash flow curves and trends.

Provides an updated, interactive view of the EFC that is critical to understand financial risks

at any stage in the project life-cycle.

Since cost information is allocated by cost codes, the summary curve consolidates

information by WBS or cost codes.

Location: Navigate to Cash Flow in a project's Cost Manager. Click Summary in the toolbar. In the

Summary list, select Cash Flow Summary Curve option.

11

Enhanced Filter Capability

Starting with Unifier release 9.14, new filter options are available for summary curves and detail

curves.

Summary curves can be filtered by WBS, time period, and curve type.

Detail curves can be filtered by curve type only -- baseline, actuals, forecast, etc.

There also are UI changes to the summary and detail curve worksheets. UI changes also apply to

company- and program-level cash flow worksheets. Summary snapshots also show the summary

curve filter and UI enhancements.

Benefits:

Filter by WBS: Particularly useful to view by work packages, which are made up of a set of

WBS or cost codes.

Filter by time period: As large projects can last for several years and budgets are approved

on a yearly basis, you can filter summary curves by time range.

Filter by curve type: Filter summary curves by curve type -- commitments, trends, and

forecasts.

Saved filter conditions are stored in a global pool in the project, which can be accessed by

any user and applied to any summary curve in the project.

View the filtered results in both graph and cash flow grid. For example, if the entire cash flow

projection is for 2011 - 2015 and a filter for 2012-2013 is applied, then only the corresponding

graph and data is displayed.

Report on default summary curve.

Location: Navigate to Cash Flow in a project's Cost Manager. Click Summary in the toolbar. In the

Summary list, select any summary curve. Click the Filter icon or select Filter option in the View menu

within the worksheet.
