Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. God is not a parent, who sets rules and punishes us when we break them. God is our friend and lover. Jesus is not an icon, incomparably beyond us as standard and judge. Jesus was as human as we are, a brother, and companion on the way.

Lord our God,

In our sin we have avoided your call.

Our love for you is like a morning cloud,

Like the dew that goes away early.

Have mercy on us;

Deliver us from judgment;

Bind up our wounds and revive us;

In Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes

the enjoyment. It is not out of compliment that lovers keep on

telling one another how beautiful they are; the delight is

incomplete till it is expressed.

zoology or biology in order to enjoy the manifold life of nature. Just observe. And remember. And compare. And be always

looking to God with thankfulness and worship for having placed you in such a delightful corner of the universe as the
