Head of Counselling Shirley Allen As a counselling team we welcome the lovely new bereavement room which provides a safe, sensitive and comfortable space for our clients. The decoration and furnishings have been carefully planned with an area especially designed and equipped for working with bereaved children. The new room offers the opportunity for our clients to be seen in a neutral and safe place as an alternative to being seen in their own homes. A wonderful and worthwhile addition to the Bereavement Service. A special thank you very much to the February Foundation, Leyburn & Mid-Wensleydale Partnership Ltd and Lloyds Community Fund for helping to fund the Bereavement room.

It’s completely natural to feel grief when you lose someone close. Our counselling service gives you the opportunity to talk to a counsellor who can help you make sense of what you are experiencing.
Who are we? Herriot Hospice Homecare works with a team of trained volunteer counsellors to provide counselling for anyone who has been bereaved, including children
under the age of 16.
How to access our service You can contact us directly or alternatively professionals such as GPs, Community nurses or Macmillan nurses may contact the service on your behalf. Outside office hours there is an answer phone facility. You are welcome to leave contact details and we will call you back the next working day.
What to expect A counselling session usually lasts an hour and may initially take place weekly, although the frequency and number of sessions is dependant on the needs. The sessions can be held either in a clients home or a mutually agreed alternative venue.

On the 8th of May we held an extremely successful fundraiser at the newly opened Black Bull in Moulton. The evening was supported and sponsored by 130 local people and
business’s.
The evening started with canapés and fizz, followed by Dr Rosie Page, welcoming guests and talking about the work Herriot Hospice Homecare provides. The delicious 3 course meal was then served in the beautiful Garden Room and during coffee Jim Wight, gave a very funny after dinner speech about his memories of his father Alf Wight, who is of course the author James Herriot.
The culmination of the evening was the Auction, and due to the generosity of the donated prizes, bidders and the auctioneering talents of John Tennant, Herriot Hospice Homecare raised over £14,000, which is our most successful Auction to date.
Without the amazing support from local people,
businesses and our team of dedicated Volunteers, our
Charity would not be able to support the people who need
it most. Thank you once again to all who supported the
Black Bull Auction, it was hugely successful and we
thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Herriot Hospice T@3 is an opportunity for inviting family, friends and colleagues round for a cuppa and a chat, while still raising much needed funds for your local hospice at home.
We are asking you to hold your T@3 event during the week beginning Monday the 6th of October, which also happens to be National Hospice Week, which will give us an opportunity to

request a starter pack from us and start planning. It’s a fantastic way for having a catch up and a great reason to eat cake! Starter packs will include lots of bits and bobs to get you on your way and there will also be lots of ideas for how you can raise additional money on the day.
