- Disasters catch us off guard. The unpredictable nature of any
disaster spells trouble for us and possible catastrophe for our
family, if we have not planned ahead for their protection.
3. Before disaster strikes Whether you are an individual, a
family, a business or a municipal entity, it is very important to
have an emergency plan in case a disaster occurs. 4.
- You must ask yourself these questions:
- - Do I know what kind of a disaster can happen in my area?
- - What would I do in case of a disaster?
- - Am I able to protect my family?
- - What are my immediate needs?
- - Do I have what I need to survive?

- If you are a business owner, a CEO, an organization Director or
any type of a manager, you must have a disaster plan to protect
your clients, your staff and your members.
- Make sure you have a disaster plan that addresses everyones
needs.
- Make sure everyone is familiar with the disaster plan.

- Many communities offer information on how to prepare for a
disaster.
- Make sure you take the appropriate steps to educate yourself
and your family on what you need to do and what you need to have,
in order to protectyourself and your family when disaster
hits.
7. When disaster hits
- Most emergency situations are handled by local authorities and
governmental agencies, but when there is a major incident, help may
be needed from other jurisdictions, as well as private
organizations.

- Private organization often get called to assist during a
disaster.
- These organizations are able to provide much needed help to the
community, such as shelter, food, water, clothing, counseling, as
well as financial help.
- Some organization also help with rescue operations.

- Often, when there is a large number of people and organizations
working together, there can be some chaos.
But when we communicate and coordinate our work, and we combine
our resources and knowledge, we become more efficient, more

11. What is VOAD?
- Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is a
coalition of organizations that work together and shares resources
and knowledge to ensure effective disaster response and recovery
through Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and
Collaboration.
12. What does VOAD do? Members of VOAD provide a variety of
services, which address the four phases of disaster. 13. Our
Mission
- The mission of CTXVOAD is to form a partnership between various
organizations, government agencies, law enforcement and the
community, in order to provide an efficient, streamlined delivery
of resources to people and communities that are affected by a
disaster.

- Our goal is to combine our resources in effort to reduce
duplication of services and maximize resources available to those
affected by a disaster.
