F L O WFORMED

Flow Formed wheels come from a process that allows wheel manufacturers to use less material and thus can create a lighter wheel. The process is similar to a cast wheel. Once the cast is made the unfinished wheel is placed on a machine where the wheel is heated and then spun. A spinning disc contacts the wheel and widens the barrel of the wheel forming the final shape and width of the wheel. This process of heat and pressure helps strengthen the aluminum in the barrel portion of the wheel.

KNURLED BEAD SEAT.DRIFZ knurled bead seat improves the grip between the tire and rim reducing tire slippage. This achieves the highest performance during extreme acceleration and deceleration.

STRUCTURAL RIDGES.Strengthened ribbed ridges have been designed into the barrel to benefit the structural integrity and durability of the wheel.

RACE POCKETING.Strategic pocketing was implemented to minimize weight without compromising the strength, reliability and safety of the wheel.

WHEEL CONSTRUCTION

Casting aluminum wheels is the most common manufacturing process for alloy wheels on the market. Cast wheels are made by pouring molten aluminum (or drawn in with a vacuum) into a mold that forms the material into the desired wheel shape. The aluminum cools and then it is machined, drilled, and trimmed into the final wheel.

Flow Formed wheels come from a process that allows wheel manufacturing to use less material and thus can create a lighter wheel. The process is similar to a cast wheel. Once the cast is made the unfinished wheel is placed on a machine where the wheel is heated and then spun. A spinning disc contacts the wheel and widens the barrel of the wheel forming the final shape and width of the wheel. This process of heat and pressure helps strengthen the aluminum in the barrel portion of the wheel.

The forging process for aluminum wheels uses heat and pressure to form the part. The hot forging process begins with an aluminum slug that is heated until it becomes pliable. The slug is then placed into the forging press and it is either struck (mechanical press) or compressed (hydraulic press) into a formed die. This die is then machined to its final product form. A forged part is stronger, so the part can be made thinner, and therefore lighter.
