ACTIVITY INFORMATION
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND STATEMENT OF NEED This conference will bring together expert faculty and participants involved in the care of patients with urologic conditions, to discuss current and new concepts in diagnosis and treatment of male and female patients. This mini-conference will explore controversies in PSA screening, urinary tract infections, hematuria evaluation, kidney stones, urinary incontinence and urologic emergencies, for primary care providers. Other topics include hypogonadism, management of small renal masses, erectile function and dysfunction, pelvic pain and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A unique feature of this conference is a lunchtime case presentation and panel discussion on “Keeping your patients (and you) out of trouble.”
COURSE OBJECTIVES • Apply evidence-based medicine to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of aging patients with urologic conditions
• Assess current and evolving practices in the treatment of kidney stones, prostate cancer and pelvic pain to define outcomes and treatment options for patients
• Counsel male patients on a variety of urologic issues including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and PSA screening
• Counsel patients regarding hormone changes and the management strategies that can improve quality of life
• Integrate best-practice recommendations to meet the needs of patients presenting with a variety of urologic problems and issues, including sexual dysfunction and hematuria
ACCREDITATION Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
