What’s in that Powerhouse?
Harness the energy in its raw form (water)
oGood hydroelectric power plant locations = High water energy =
challenging terrain
oPotential energy in water is proportional to the mass (weight) and
head (pressure)
oNeed to get all that mass to the turbine and generator equipment
without losing energy (head)
Provide support and protection for personnel and equipment

The Purpose of the Civil Works –
Intake Includes:
