Marie & Chris Jn. Marie Trisanne Frederick & Vitus Frederick NEW YEARS DAY Bernitha Clery & Winston Duncan Fiona Mayer & Anthony Louis Hadiah Venner & Nathaniel Deterville WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW JESUS? You can have peace and find hope and know forgiveness through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Praying is simply talking to God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. Here's a suggested prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to You and ask You to come in as my Saviour and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Bring peace to my world this Christmas. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, pray it right now and Christ will come into your life as He promised. If you invited Jesus Christ into your life, thank God often that He is in your life, that He will never leave you and that you have eternal life. Food For Thought Where is your Bethlehem? Has the path been long, the people uncaring, the circumstances burdensome? When we submit ourselves as servants to a loving God, we can - in quietness and confidence - add “May it be to me as you have said” no matter the place or position in which we find ourselves. Charles Irvin (excerpt) B ack in the late 1800’s John Henry Cardinal Newman was an Anglican priest who later became a Catholic priest and was later made a Cardinal of the Church by Pope Leo XIII. Early in his journey through life Newman wrestled with the question of what God was doing with his life. Newman wrote a prayer about that and I want to share it with you now. God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission - I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place while not intending it - if I do but keep His commandments. Therefore I will trust Him, whatever, wherever I am. I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him; If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends; He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me - still He knows what He is about. When all is said and done we all struggle, no matter what our station in life may be, with questions about the meaning and purpose of our lives. Ultimately the answer is a matter of faith, something we must leave in the hands of God. But whether or not we have an answer is not really important. What is important, and what is central to everything, is that we have faith, faith in which we place ourselves and our lives into the hands of God who loves us, knowing that, as Cardinal Newman said, God knows what He is about. 4th Sunday of Advent December 23 S S STANDARD TANDARD TANDARD TANDARD M M MASS ASS ASS ASS T T TI I IM M ME E ES S S Monday Monday Monday Monday - - - F F Fr r ri i id d da a ay y y: : : 5:45 a.m. Morning Prayers 6:00 a.m. Mass Wednesday: Wednesday: Wednesday: Wednesday: 6:00 p.m. Mass Saturday: Saturday: Saturday: Saturday: 6:30 a.m. Mass 7:00 p.m. Mass Sunday: Sunday: Sunday: Sunday: 7:30 a.m. Mass (G.I. / G.R) 10:00 a.m. Mass (G.I. / Monchy) Holiday: Holiday: Holiday: Holiday: 7:00 a.m. Mass THE CANDLE OF PEACE
