Welcome to

Canterbury CathedralJuly - September 2017

Canterbury Cathedral is the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Cathedral is both a holy place and part of a World Heritage Site (which includes St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church). It remains one of the most visited places in the country, and, just as importantly, a working, living church and community.

As well as worship, Canterbury Cathedral offers an exciting programme of arts and culture activities, events and exhibitions.

It is widely regarded as a centre of excellence for traditional crafts, education and learning.

For the next season we are pleased to present the Big FRIENDly Sing, a concert put on by you in just one day, plus lots to keep the kids busy over the summer from Discovery Week to the National Festival of Archaeology.

The Cathedral plays an active role in the community and the building, or parts of it, are at times closed for general visiting due to services or special events. Therefore, always check opening times before visiting.

The Cathedral and Precincts are huge and even when major parts of the Cathedral are closed for visiting, there will still be plenty to explore.
