In 1964, a Friends of the Library group was organized and a campaign began to “work toward re- locating the library to a downstairs” from the up- stairs of what is currently the Chamber of Commerce location. Funds were raised and in 1968 the Friends were able to make a down payment to purchase the former Willfond Clothing Store located at 612 Archer Avenue. Upon purchase, the group dissolved but then in 1995 they re- organized to secure funds to purchase the adjoining building formerly known as C.A. Dixon Farm Imple- ments, Ford Auto, Kroger and Western Auto. The pur- chase of this building tripled the library’s building size. Since the purchase of the Dixon building, Friends have funded many projects including digitization of local microfilm newspapers dating as far back as the Civil War. These newspapers are now available in a search- able format on the library’s website. In addition, the Friends preserved local history with their Oral History Project which now boasts more than 250 local interviews available online. History of Marshall Friends Friends of Marshall Public Library have a long histo-
ry of helping make the library a better, more spacious
place. In 1964, a Friends of the Library group was
organized and a campaign began to “work toward re-
locating the library to a downstairs” from the up-

ments, Ford Auto, Kroger and Western Auto. The pur-
chase of this building tripled the library’s building
size.
Since the purchase of the Dixon building, Friends have

War. These newspapers are now available in a search-
able format on the library’s website. In addition, the
Friends preserved local history with their Oral History

The library recognizes some residents may need temporary assis-tance with toiletry items. To help meet this need, the library is
distributing We Care packages containing hygiene products. Donations are being sought on a continual basis for unopened, unused travel and/or hotel size toiletry items. We Care packages are assembled at the library and available near restrooms.
Multiple copies of books may not be available for checkout due to limited delivery service.
“Book Chat” is a book discussion group that meets at the li-
brary the third Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Up-
coming featured books include:
The Mother in Law
by Sally Hepworth — July 15th
The River
by Peter Heller — August 19th
Questions about Census Survey? We can STILL help! Library staff are trained to assist you with 2020 Census questions and can help you avoid
misinformation and scams. Plus, the library’s webpage has a tab detailing all the fre-
quently asked questions ensuring you receive creditable and accurate information.
We take your Safety Serious
The library is quarantining every book received for 3 days plus following
CDC and Clark County Health Department Covid-19 safety guidelines. A recent study by Reopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums (REALM) Information Hub: A COVID-19 Research Pro-
ject provided information on how long some commonly circulated library materials would need to be quarantined
prior to being returned to public circulation. Testing was conducted by applying the virulent SARS-CoV-2 virus (the
virus that causes COVID-19) on five materials held at standard room temperature and
humidity conditions. The materials tested included the following items, which were
provided by Columbus Metropolitan Library: Results show that the SARS-CoV-2
virus was not detectable on the materials after three days of quarantine.
(1) Hardback book cover
(2) Softback book cover
(3) Plain paper pages inside a closed book
(4) Plastic book covering
(5) DVD case
While in the library, please…
Do not enter with flu like symptoms Cover your sneeze or cough Wash your hands frequently Practice social distancing
