Beloved Sir Knights,
Sometimes it doesn’t seem like Autumn when it’s 85 degrees outside. I guess
we’re going to ease into the rainy season. Mother Nature is going to do what she
wants, huh.
I have been helping Worthy Chancellor SK Steve Suess interview Knight Candi-
dates the past few weeks. SK Steve and I collaborated on a paper listing all the
Knights activities, events, positions held, and duties within Good Shepherd Parish.
We were both impressed by this 2 page document. Giving this document to a prospective Knight Candi-
date you see their eyes open wide and their jaws drop. They almost unanimously say, “I had no idea
the Knights do so much.” My advice to them is to find something that speaks to them and jump in.
You don’t have to get involved in everything. Out of the 90 or so in St. John Paul ll Assembly, if we all
chose something different, there would be no shortage of manpower.

gram. Parishioners are welcome, especially all members of the Armed Forces, active, retired and veter-

After Every MassAfter Every Mass
You can assist us with this worthwhile fund
raiser by helping to sell pies after the mass you
normally attend. Looking for an easier way to
help out - just buy several of the delicious pies.
This second option is a clear “Win-Win” oppor-
tunity.

Recruitment Drive
Sunday, October 27, 1st Degree Knight Rafael Vega and I took a morning trip to St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, O’Neil Memorial Hall in Vallejo. Rafael was expecting a 2nd and 3rd Degree promotion. However, that did not happen.
Because of fires burning near Santa Rosa, and heavy winds blowing, Highway 101 was closed to all traffic. A vital member of the Spanish 3rd Degree team was not able to attend. Rafael did get to promote to 2nd (Formation) Degree in the morning.
One of the reasons behind Rafael’s push to become 3rd Degree, is his desire to become Council Recorder. Al-though today was a setback for his ambitions, according to DD Dan Aguiar, Rafael can perform the duties of Re-corder for 90 days, which gives him time to promote to 3rd Degree during this period. Best of luck! Rollie is rootin’ for ya.
Peace & Brotherhood,
SK Steven Suess

I apologize if I missed your name. My memory isn’t the greatest.
We have 2 transfers from St. Joseph’s Parish.
We have 5 new prospects as of 10/25. Rich Thompson and I interviewed 1 on Oct 24, and met with 1, Oct 26. We met with the other 3 prospects on Oct 28, 30, and Nov 3rd. A few others I called Mon-day, Oct 21, balked at committing to an interview. Others took Form 100s, or my Knight identification cards with them. I can only pray they will contact me in the future. Time will tell.

Arts & Crafts Faire KofC Rosary Night
4
NOV 2019
We're fast approaching our 10th Annual Arts &
Crafts Faire be held on November 23 and 24th
and like the years in the past, we'll need all the
help possible to pull this off. We're close to being
officially SOLD OUT of vendor space.
Over the years we've been able to create a com-
munity event that will provide support/funding for
Knights of Columbus, Council 11236, Good Shepherd Church
These are most of the events and functions the Knights of Columbus host or participate in, for Good Shepherd Catholic Church, her Ministries, and Charities that benefit our Community.
* We host a Fellowship Breakfast on a Sunday, once a month for most of the year, after 7 and 9 am Masses. The Knights set up tables, provide the food, cook, wash, dry, clean, and then put away the ta-bles. This promotes a social gathering of family, friends, and Clergy in the Fr. Phillip Well’s Hall.
* In January, the Knights host a Free Throw Contest at Good Shepherd Church. Children, ages 7-14 years, attend from throughout the Diocese.
* Usually in March, we hold a St. Patrick's Dinner, which benefits and supports our Pastor’s projects.
* Quarterly, throughout the year, we lead our Knight’s sponsored Rosaries.
* In April, the Knights hold an Essay Contest for 8th graders from our St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, who plan on continuing a Catholic high school education. Three winners each get $1,000.
* In April, we host a Golf Tournament, which benefits 4 chosen charities.
* Throughout the year, the Knights will hold Corporate Masses with participating Honor Guard, to celebrate the canonization of St. John Paul ll, and the anniversary of our St. John Paul ll Assembly, now more than 5 years old.
* Mother's Day brings our Mother’s Day Rose Sale, held after all Masses. All proceeds go to the Sacramento Life Center.
* The Knights support Good Shepherd’s Veteran’s Ministry. On Memorial and Veteran’s Day, if asked, the Knight’s Honor Guard will participate in that Monday morning Mass. Good Shepherd Church has the only Veteran’s Ministry in the Diocese.
* From June 28 through July 5th, the Knights rent and operate a Fireworks Booth, and provide over-night security. All proceeds fund Good Shepherd Church Ministries.
* Sometime during June or July, we host a Luau, including dinner and entertainment. This is when we acknowledge the three Essay Contest winners, and give them their cash awards.
* In September, the Knights are an integral part in setting up the Parish Festival. We put up tents, build booths, set up games, and place propane barbeques where needed, before the event. At the event, from 10 am to 3 pm, we help or run 4-5 assorted booths. After closing at 3 pm, Knights help tear down and disassemble anything that was put up, including all tents and booths. We then place in storage for next year.
* During the Parish Festival, we hold the Knights Soccer Challenge, for children ages 7-14.
* In late October into November, the Knights hold a Holiday Pie Sale, after all Masses, in the Nar-thex, for 3-4 weekends. These funds support our Adopt-A-Family program, which financially helps 4 families at Christmastime.
* In November, we host a Art & Crafts Faire, over a weekend. Funds go to our Essay Contest win-ners.
* We perform Church Maintenance duties when called upon and possess the skill set.
* Knights are Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Lectors, Mass Coordinators and Ministry Chairper-sons. All Good Shepherd’s Deacons and assigned Priests, are members of Knights of Columbus.
* We ARE the backbone of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
The St. John Paul ll Assembly Honor Guard was busy in October. We deployed the Honor Guard dur-
ing our 5th Anniversary of St. John ll Paul Assembly with a Corporate Mass. As usual, we looked
good.
The Honor Guard has begun practice to “Present the Colors” and “Retire the Colors” for functions
where the flag is flown. Thanks to SK Ed Ortiz, SK Larry Navarrette, SK Jess Velasco, SK Romeo Gon-
zalvo and SK Nick Suarez. As someone who wasn’t in the Armed Services, I get help from a variety of
SK’s who counsel me on proper commands and techniques.
November 11th, there will be a Mass at 8:30am honoring our Veterans. If you are Honor Guard, your
report time is 7:30am. There will be quite a lot of inspection, instruction, and coordination in that
hour prior to the 8:30am Mass. Please try to arrive on time. We will “Present the Colors” and “Retire
the Colors” and we will need as many Honor Guard present that aren’t in a military uniform.
Thank you to those Honor Guard members who are showing up for practices and Callouts. I appreci-
ate your dedication and participation. You guys rock!
Please pray for our success.
Thank You, God Bless You and Vivat Jesus!

New Prospect Sign Up Tools
I would like to explain two new digital tools, we as Knights have at our disposal. One is provided by the Knights Organization, KofC.org, the other provided by WGK Nick’s Smartsheet.com. Both web pages function almost identically, but I have my personal favorite. THESE ARE NOT PHONE APPS! They work the same way you do online banking, annual vehicle license registration, view the Laguna Knights website, use Google, and anything else on your desktop computer. You use an internet browser to link to a website. People find out you can use it on a phone, and automatically it’s an app. In reality, these tools are also accessed through your phone or desktop internet browser.
KofC Landing Page
This is my favorite, and you’ll read why. Sorry, Nick.
1st. Go to your internet browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Samsung, Safari, etc.) and type the following in the address bar or scan the QR code:
This will take you to a KofC prospect info webpage, that when submitted, will email a thank you to the prospect, and email me a notification that someone inquired about the Knights, with that person’s information. I contact the person, and get the process started. It’s that simple. I set this up as Chancellor, that’s why I get the inquiry. 2nd. Once you are on the linked webpage, save it as a bookmark in your browser. 3rd. Close and exit. 4th. Try the bookmark to make sure it works for you. If not, repeat steps 1 – 4.
If you meet a promising prospect anywhere, go to your phone browser bookmarks, find the link, and select. The information page opens, and the prospect or yourself fills in his first and last name, email address, our state, and submit. Phone number and city are optional. You are done. I take over. Text me if you want to sponsor this person. 916-730-1128.
Smartsheet.com Admissions
It is slightly more complex.
1st. Go to your internet browser and type the following in the address bar:
This will take you to a designed prospect info web page, that when submitted, will email this form to WGK Nick that someone inquired about the Knights, with that person’s information. He forwards this to me, and I get the process started. If the prospect checks a box at the bottom of the form, he will also receive a copy. 2nd. Once you are on the linked webpage, save it as a book-mark in your browser. 3rd. Close and exit. 4th. Try the bookmark to make sure it works for you. If not, repeat steps 1 – 4.
If you meet a promising prospect anywhere, go to your phone browser book-marks, find the link, and select. The information page opens, and the prospect or yourself fills in his first and last name, zip code, email address, best phone number, and submit. Home address and city are optional. You are done. I take over. Text me if you want to sponsor this person. 916-730-1128.
This is by no means the only way to access these two web pages, I’m sure you can figure other ways. Admissions can also be accessed scanning a QR code supplied by Nick. However, I feel these instructions are the easiest for most of the membership.
