a 30-minute Analyze an Argument task– You will not have a choice of Issue tasks as is the

case on the current test– You'll need to provide more focused responses

based on the tasks presented– You will type your essay responses using an

elementary word processor developed by ETS

Important Dates You Need to Know

Month Milestone

August - September

• August 1 - First day of testing for the revised test• Candidates who between August 1-September 30, 2011 can

save 50% off their test administration fee • For tests administered in August and September, scores will be

reported starting in early November

October-November

For tests administered in October and November, check the detailed score reporting schedule on the GRE website

December Score reporting returns to the regular reporting period (10-15 days after test date)

Score reports for paper-based administrations will continue to be reported six weeks after test date.




Important Note

• If you need your score reports before November 2011, you must take the current GRE® General Test before August 2011

• You should register early for the current test to get the date and location of your choice




• You should check the deadlines of the institutions to which you are considering applying to know when you need your scores

• Based on when you need your score reports, you can decide if you need to take the current test or if you can take the GRE® revised General Test– Remember, you can save 50% if you take the GRE

revised General Test between August 1, 2011–September 30, 2011

• You should register early for whichever test you plan to take to get the date and location of your preference. Seats will fill up quickly
