The Basque Country's Mining Museum, located in Gallarta (our town), is a centre dedicated to the study and dissemination of the mining culture and history in the Basque Country, as a whole, and the mining area of Bizkaia, in particular. In the museum you can see a lot of minerals.

You can enjoy a day out in Itsaslur, which is an easy flat trail that goes along the route of an old mining railway on the coast. When the weather is warm, it is a really popular place among walkers of all ages, and, when the sea is rough, it is impressive to see the force of the waves there.

SERANTESSerantes is a mountain near Gallarta. On Easter Monday, people from Gallarta and its surroundings climb to the top and spend the day there.

In the past, during war periods, Mount Serantes was used as a refuge and a look-out because of its exceptional position to watch the enemy.
