Box 2202, Toledo, OH 43604 419-392-9597 • [email protected] What this levy pays for • Independent Living - preparing youth age 14+ to emancipate from foster care • Intake - accepting reports of suspected child abuse and neglect from members of the community • Investigations and Assessments - caseworkers investigating suspected abuse and neglect • Legal - staff attorneys represent LCCS and children in Juvenile Court • Licensing and training of foster parents - preservice and ongoing training for foster parents; foster home certification and recertification • Ongoing services - ongoing case management • Parent education - teaches parents the skills they need to care for their children • Post adoption services - ongoing support to adoptive families • Post emancipation services - supports youth 18 - 21 who have emancipated from LCCS • Security - trained guards provide building security and supervise Level 1 visits • Transportation - staff transport children to visits with parents, appointments Issue 9, the 1.85 mill renewal issue, will provide more than one-quarter of Lucas County Children Services’ operating funds. The agency’s primary expenses include salaries and benefits ($12.8 million), foster care costs ($6.5 million), and child welfare contracts ($1.8 million). Levy dollars are used to fund part of nearly every aspect of LCCS operation.
